No, the difference was that even when you grouped or raided, there was only one zone, instead of everyone being in their own sanitary instance. Helping other groups break camps, clear for CR's, clear trains, etc.

It was a better game as far as graphics, code, and gameplay, but it was not the same level of MMO that EQ was. In WoW you only grouped or raided with your guild and that was it. The interactions you had with the rest of the server was minimal at best. I enjoyed both but if I had to pick one era...
