    Outward 2

I haven't heard any statements from the developers regarding this but... I think it's believable. In 2024, Nine Dots announced that they were working on three games: Outward 2, Lost in Prayer, and Witherbloom, all (assumedly) off the backs of Outward. Witherbloom hasn't had any updates since...

Looks like the purpose of the upcoming stress test is to pack as many people as possible into Night Harbor and see how it holds up. Should be... interesting.

Daybreak Sues The Heroes Journey EQ EMU Server Devs

Reddit drama has to be the worst posts ever made on this forum. We come to post here specifically to get away from you nerds.

Essentially, Skyrim's system. You will get your butt kicked if you try to go into a vampire den at level 5 but bandits remain a reasonable challenge as high as level 30.

I don't disagree with this, but I think MnM isn't the game to do it. (I do feel like 60 levels might be too many, though.) Erenshor has a pretty good way of doing it: the dialogue of interest is highlighted in NPC quest text and you can click it to advance, with the exception of secret prompts...

Have you tried Fellowship? I think they're doing exactly what you talk about (except there is substantial vertical progression through gear).

"Low level content becoming obsolete" is a foundational issue of any game with a vertical progression system. FFXIV's solution is so bad that it actually turns people away from the game. Nobody likes level scaling down to do old content, they're forced to do it for their weekly currency because...

Let's please not use FF14 as a standard for anything other than Stockholming mouthbreathers into repeating the same boring junk over and over and doing everything they can to take the "multiplayer" out of MMO. If you want to talk about games that did "level scaling" right, let's talk about games...

We're not that hard to please. Tbh they probably could get rid of corpse runs, shrink the zones, and put in maps... and we'd still want to play it.

I really don't think server costs are going to be as high as you guys think they are. Scaleable server tech allows them to only pay for as much oomph as they need, so if they end up only having 5,000 players, they'll only need to pay for servers that host 5,000 players.

That's just a normal part of game development, man. There are a lot of issues that you just don't see until you bring in players, and even then, there's the matter of triage. If these bugs persist for long times, then I agree that's an issue, but I think it's reasonable to be more lenient during...

They can absolutely make it work on that budget. It just means that they'll all be part time on the project or exclusively on profit-sharing plans while they continue to work their day jobs, which is essentially what they're doing now. From a business standpoint, that wouldn't be super...

Monsters and Memories (Project_N) - Old School Indie MMO

I don't hate the idea of fighting to escort people out of dungeons, but dungeons need to be designed with that in mind. Dungeons that are mega hallways are probably a no-go, instead they should have hub areas or shortcuts that allow people to get out of the dungeon in a reasonable amount of...

There are gate potions in the game, but they're very expensive. The world - and individual zones, even - are too big for the locomotive options the players have access to at this point. I'm hoping mounts will really help,
