IT/Software career thread: Invert binary trees for dollars.

Boys, I had my second interview for a mini job (UiPath) yesterday. 15 hours per week, low pay, but despite that (sort of due to that) I really, really want this. I can get by just fine, and a low stress job sounds amazing. Never tried to be nervous for something like this before. I am about 10x...

AI: The Rise of the Machines... Or Just a Lot of Overhyped Chatbots?

I am completely blown away by Claude Cowork. From this simple prompt it finds the 'Pets' thread and gives a nice pet description, including context. It uses a background browser and does actual mouse clicks to navigate and take screenshots. So far it successfully did everything I've thrown at...

IT/Software career thread: Invert binary trees for dollars.

We just had one here saying IT hiring was going up this year. As well last year and the year before. I don’t know what tf they are basing that on. One of my former employers (consultants) are firing for the first time ever. And they have hardly any work for the remaining.

    Friends

I don't know anyone who would do something like that. Or pretty anything else, for that matter. Anyways, it's time I stop rambling.

    Friends

I am married, without children. But nothing has come close to "the good old days". I do have a few friends but we don't talk a lot and almost never do anything together. And when we do it is nothing like it used to be. The other day I was thinking about nigh fishing with a friend. Watching the...

I thought about it... but I am not sure I could stand even that, it might be for a very long time. And I would burn some bridges if I leave after a short time. Decisions...

IT/Software career thread: Invert binary trees for dollars.

Just as I wrote this a former colleague posted a job add. I skipped the line and went straight to an interview with his boss. High pay, 7 weeks of vacation (yes, 7). But I get easily stressed and it was a demanding job (banking, moving billions of dollars every year). And 2 hours of commute...

I’m actually going to remove the oldest entries to mask it a bit. But still… 100-200 applicants for even the shittiest sounding jobs.

IT/Software career thread: Invert binary trees for dollars.

I haven't applied for a job since my first job 30 years ago (I am a programmer). Things just happened and there was always plenty to do. Now I find myself without a job and the ones that are relevant to me have 100-200 applicants. I also read an article about how 50+ years will often exclude you...
