Today was over 60 degrees so I decided to take my old Cadillac to the car wash to sweep it out. I rarely drive it when the street is salted, but we have had enough rain lately to make the roads fairly decent. While I was busy sweeping an extremely attractive lady came up to me and asked me what year was my car. As I explained to her that it is a 1970 model, I noticed that she was driving a rare and very beautiful white 1984 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz convertible. We began to have a pleasant conversation for a bit as we cleaned our vehicles.

Turns out it was Marilee Levey Olson, the widow of former state senator Barry Levey (R-Ohio) and the car had been a gift from the late senator to her as an anniversary present. After discussing various aspects of our classic vehicles, the discussion did turn to politics. She was incredibly upbeat and hopeful for the new administration, and urged me to give things a chance. I assured her that I am a patriot and I have high hopes as well, although mixed with a healthy dose of wary skepticism. Nobody left with a new opinion when we parted, but it was definitely refreshing to have political discourse in a civil and genuinely respectful manner.
