Is it worth listening to the Wheel of Time books? I read through 6 or 7 of them when I was in highschool, but I just don't have the time nowadays to finish reading the series.
I think so, my only real issue with them on audiobook is that most of female characters seemed even more "catty" when read by woman (the reader did a great job) thanks to Jordan's horrible writing of female characters. If you can get past that, i found it pretty easy to immerse myself into the story. The Sanderson written ones made great audiobooks!

The female characters were the worst part of the series. I would just skip those chapters because of how tedious/annoying/boring they were.

The audiobooks are how I got through all of them after stopping with the books years ago. In fact, I never read books anymore. I have an Audible subscription, so I listen to everything now.

The wheel of time audiobooks are well done, good voices. Just like the books though slogging through the worthless chapters is a chore. I also felt like the male voice was tired of the women too. The way he would read some braid tug and other similar lines just sounded like "fuck am I really reading about this shit again" but that may just be me projecting that feeling onto his voice.

Just finished listening to books 1 and 2 back to back. Took me about two months of runs & gym sessions, but holy shit. Thoughts below in spoilers;

Shallan was annoying for the first book, and the first half of the second book. By the second half of the second book she was actually an enjoyable character. Which is weird, because by that time I began to hate Szeth and his weirdness. I thought Wit's story about the island people was some very interesting foreshadowing to Szeth's mental breakdown. Adolin stabbing Sadeas in the eye made me want to cheer. I was glad to see Jasnah wasn't dead. Totally tricked by that. I like Elhokar's arc as well.

This series has such a quality to it, that it has given me a new faith in fantasy novels.

Looks like the official(tentative) release date for Oathbringer in November 14, which also also includes the audible audiobook.

Just finished "Edgedancer". Looking forward to seeing this style of Radiants in action. Nice little Nightblood tease in there to.

Just bought and read White Sand. Wasn't bad and felt very Sandersony, but there were several quick transitions or things that happened that seemed out of place or 'huh?' to me. Would have preferred a short novel instead but whatever, still cool to see the comic art. Wish they would have drawn the characters a little more diverse, some of them looked so similar got confused a couple times. Kind of bummed it's spanning multiple books, hopefully they can churn them out at a similar pace to Sanderson himself. Overall I liked it.

I guess they released the first 3 chapters in "Arcanum Unbounded". I thought it was just a short story he was doing for the collection. Looking forward to the book coming out now. That will tie in nicely to "Oathbreaker".

Think he means Edgedancer, it's scheduled to release on October 3 but the first three chapters were included in Arcanum Unbounded.

Its June already and all we have to show for it is one novella included in a collection? Unacceptable! How dare he not put out at least 1 major new title every other month!!
