WHY!? It's not even that old and really well done.
The Matrix is 18 years old (at the end of the month), the Matrix is older to us now than Blade Runner was to the Matrix when it came out. Feel old?

That being said, it's pointless to remake.

You guys trying to write a Morpheus prequel have it all wrong. The Matrix we saw was like the seventh version of the program? Reboot can just be one of the other iterations. Explaining done, now we can get to the action without a bunch of exposition trying to more fully tie the reboot to the original.

I think I hated every fight scene in the sequel except the very first one in reloaded with upgrades fight. The rest were just awful

Was there ever a reference to a previous "the One" from one of the other iterations? I seem like there was. Gosh, haven't watched any of this series since the sequels came out (so disappointed).

In one of the unused scripts for Reloaded that scene went a bit differently. Instead of it being a big fight with zero consequences (that kinda looks like shit) Neo is killing Smith after Smith after Smith until the bodies are literally piling up. He sees what looks like a dead Trinity in the pile (some innocent woman he's killed by killing a Smith) and that snaps him to his senses and he realizes what he's doing and flees.

Wow that's a good idea that should have been used... which is exactly why it wasn't.

That script had some problems but it had some interesting artifacts in it as well. Instead of taking place an indeterminate amount of time after the first movie this version takes place immediately. See, there's a finite amount of time after someone becomes The One before the machines adapt so they have to move and move quickly. The target is a specific key building (sorta transfers into the actual film we got) but Neo can't destroy it faster than the machines are able to repair it with the might of the entire Matrix brought to bear against him.

The previous The One is the character we would later get as Seraph. The machines were able to sever his connection from their end and his consciousness got left inside. Agent Smith isn't a rogue agent in this and instead goes and recruits someone with the same capability as Neo to train and eventually fight against him. That would have been the third movie I guess as the script ends as that character is introduced. Basically Neo kills a mountain of innocent people, fails to destroy the macguffin building, and leaves to figure out just what the fuck to do next.

I don't like Reloaded at all but it's Revolutions that I actively hate. Holy fuck that movie is dogshit.

Oh, and if you want to see the inspiration for this entire francise pick yourself up The Invisibles.

The Invisibles - Wikipedia

The Wakowski Brothers ripped that off hard. There were rumors they had copies on the set.

The film writes itself.

You do a prequel / soft reboot with a young Morpheus as the protagonist. He's played by Jaden Smith. His mentor, someone we have not previously seen, is played by Will Smith. You basically retell the story of the first Matrix except you kill off Will Smith in a scene that mirrors the scene where they are about to pull the plug on Morpheus but Neo decides to take another path. In this movie they pull the plug and it is sad.

The sequel is about Morpheus finding Trinity and is basically a retelling of the first movie as well. We introduce other characters like Sipher and so the audience knows he's evil he does shifty things a lot.

The name of the first reboot is The Matrix PreLoaded

You're a monster.

The 2016 election results are slowly beginning to trickle in at the Clinton camp, and there are a couple of computer analysts who notice an aberration in their models. They quickly receive a phone call telling them to, "Get out."

They have no idea what's going on, but they listen to the voice and navigate through the teary-eyed audience and witness a reality that HAS to be fake. This is their awakening.

Morpheus, played by Van Jones, locates Neotito and Trinitas by their non-binary gender specific input output carrier signals and delivers them to Zion, played by CNN.
