Everquest - Agnarr Server: Sunset Mode

I have a feeling everywhere I go on the 24th, that I'll see a Faceless static group. Diggin' the enthusiasm for this old game, wish I could dedicate myself to a perma group, but even with the week off, I know I'd be burned out grinding 20 hours a day. Still prob do my usual 16+ a day, but def. going at a more casual pace.

Yes, you can forage them in classic. Druid as well.

For the best imo.

12 weeks of classic is plenty of time to hit 50(lol) and do some raids.

When most items are going to become shit tier in kunark, just no reason to go balls deep trying to get bis in classic. My personal goal is really just to hit 50 and get as much pre epic done as possible and make some friends.

Archeage destroyed my gaming friendships. Fucking tools robbed our guild stash for what? A dead game.... Sad

Honestly, probably 2 weeks will do it for most people with LJ/RF XP rates. (1 week leveling, 1 week getting drops squared away)

Only chasing rare items from underutilized zones will really take that long (i.e. FBE - with the new "closing instances" changes I expect FBE to be pretty obnoxious again as an example)

[IIRC people were mid-40's within a day for the hardcores on LJ - I hardcored but didn't start my main until like a week in and got 50 in something like 3 days w/ the support classes PLing]

This a sub forum for tfo or anyone?

Either I'll have the week off, or I'll be out of town, and able to poopsock at night from a hotel room after work, but either way, gonna be putting in some time! But because of work, I can't be putting in the 20 hours/day. As an SK, I hope I can just pick up groups very easily and get the levels in.

Will register over at the Faceless forums to introduce myself, and can be put on the back-up list in case a group needs a tank.

It's all good, Vulak was a lot of fun minus the Shadowknights, hands down the dumbest era of EQ ever with raid mobs dying in sub 1 second and warping going unpunished. Glad to be on the same team this time around.

Ahh yes, the good ole progression days.

Holy shit...Fuck that level of dedication poopsocking.

I played some on Phinigel but got tired of the slow exp given my erratic playtime. I'm going to play on Agnarr at a casual pace and thought I would try something really new this time. I have never been a tank in these games, and it seems like SKs will be fairly abundant, so I was thinking of a Paladin. Maybe box it with a cleric. Are Paladins really as boring as people suggest? Wielding a giant flaming sword has its appeal though and its always nice to be an underplayed class.

Thoughts?

I had a good time with it on phin. I rarely ever play a tank so it was a new thing. You'll take hits pretty well, and can stun, and lay hands for saving the cleric. Flash of light is a pretty good taunt as long as you are in melee range.

Getting a group and going for ghoulbane is a lot of fun in the 20's. Always an adventure. Usually when it spawns with the sword it wipes out the group.

I had good luck at frenzy (only took 20ish hours), and good luck in mistmoore. I forget the name but I got a really nice high ac breastplate there.

Just a funny thought I heard today. I had several friends talk about their excitement for this server but not necessarily crediting the nostalgia or the stop at PoP but due to Great of the Wild rekindling their sense of adventure. They drew many similarities to the gameplay of BotW to their experiences to early EQ. Thought that was rather interesting. Glad to hear people miss wandering around in an open world looking for stuff even if it's something as insignificant as a seed. I think the multiple armor sets an situational gear was an interesting comparison as well. Just wanted to share out of curiosity if others feel or heard the same.
