Wii U and 3DS jailbreak

Wait, can you actually play Vita 'backups' on it? I was under the impression that they had only opened it up for homebrew (emulators mainly I guess) and PSP piracy. That's what the FAQ on /r/vitahacks said anyway.

If it is just that I'm not sure it's worth the risk, since I'd want to be able to play some of the PS+ Vita games I've been hoarding for the last couple years. Plus Remote Play doesn't work without a PSN connection.

Vita piracy would be more interesting, especially for the games I bought for PC that I may never get around to playing and wouldn't feel too bad about grabbing for the Vita instead. Stuff like Danganronpa, Neptunia V-II, etc. seem pretty well suited to a handheld anyway.

Ah, I guess my mistake was going to /r/vitahacks instead of /r/vitapiracy. Vitahacks and the people who made Henkaku are still pretending that you can't do anything but homebrew with it.

Sounds like that's the way to go then. It doesn't really matter if I can't access my PSN/+ games on 3.60 if I can just download any of those games as a Maidump. The only downside seems to be that I can't play any new games that require 3.61+ and I'm not sure exactly which games are affected. Kind of want to play Caligula Effect, but jp reviews make it sound nowhere near as good as Persona so I guess I'll live without it.

Edit: Well, that was a bust. Gamestop had three 1000s, two scratched all to shit and the third pretty much mint. And of course it was 3.63 FW.

Can't believe I just spent as much for an 8GB Vita card as I did for the 128GB microSD in my tablet. Fucking Sony. I ended up buying a new Vita to be sure it was version 3.60 or lower. I'm still not clear what I can and can't [safely] do with henkaku though. It sounds like it's possible to connect to my PS4 for remote play as long as I register it with the code like I did my PC, and any game released from the end of October on requires 3.61+ but I can still use older carts like the P4G I already had. I think.

Late to the game but decided to mod the Wii U, so Haxchi requires you to buy a DS game? Is it required for anything other than not having to use the browser exploit to launch homebrew?

Yes you have to buy it, it's the portal per say of the key hack - and "it" gets replaced by... I think haxchi? Or something.

Can someone direct me to somewhere with CIAs for 3ds? TV torrent is pretty lackluster. It doesn't even have Shin Megami Tensei 4, only Apocalypse.

I installed that. Seems like the title key website is down.

I poked around and found some forums with a decent library of games in CIA so I'm gonna stick with that until titlekey site is back up.

Are CIAngel and Freeshop essentially the same thing?

More or less. freeShop is much more user friendly and basically does one thing--downloading games directly from Nintendo. CIAngel does that plus it can grab DLC separately from games and can install it for carts you own, lets you backup the CIAs if you think you need them for some reason (like having multiple 3DS you want to install to), etc.

If you don't need any of CIAngel's extra features, stick with freeShop.

FreeSHOP > CIAngel only time I use CIAngel is if i'm copying a cart from someone else.

Anyone wanting to install Fire Emblem 1 remake before the freeShop database is updated, just go to the titlekeys site, search for Valentia, and click the QR code button by the encrypted title key. Scan that in FBI and it will install from the Nintendo CDN just like freeShop does.

Not sure what DLC is out on release day, but there's no keys for anything extra yet.

Yeah, it really only affects people who play MK7/MH/Pokemon, none of which interest me in the slightest. Bravely Default/Second would suck without streetpass villagers, but editing the village savefile to max them out is fairly simple.

Still not sure if mine is banned since I'm on 11.2 and haven't bothered to install ctr httpwn to check, but I assume it is. If the CFW itself didn't flag me then having non-legit DLC or other region games like Beyond the Labyrinth (a JP-only release which has an English patch, but unfortunately kind of sucks even though tri-Ace made it) installed likely did.

BTW, if you're still on A9LH you should go to 3ds.guide and convert to B9S instead. Luma3DS has already dropped A9LH support entirely, so you won't be able to get CFW updates until you switch.

Anyone else download FE Echoes and try installing the DLCs? It finishes the download but then just says Suspended instead of Installed at the end, and they don't seem to be working.

Yeah, that's definitely what it's doing and why it suspends at the end. I tested it in FBI and there's a 404 error on some of the later files. It could also be one of the things Nintendo flags people for, but the 404 error could also be a normal thing for season pass holders and the game just knows to ignore it while freeShop/CIAngel don't.

I came across a couple fixes for it. First is to just download it until getting the suspended message, close freeShop, load the game itself and go into the DLC menu and tell it to redownload all and it should work. If that doesn't do it, there's a CIA posted to 3dsiso which should work fine.

I can't test it yet since you need to be on at least 11.3 for the DLC to load at all. I think I'll just wait until all the DLC is out to screw around with it, not like I'm short on portable games to play now that I have a Vita too. It does sound like this FE is a hell of a lot better than the last two though, if for no other reason than 8-4 did the translation instead of Memehouse. Almost all the negative reviews seem to be from people who want to play a waifu simulator instead of an actually challenging SRPG.
