Liking this one more than the last (1/4 of the way in), but the continued trend towards human factions that are being psychopathic pricks and holding grudges beyond reason because the authors want them to fight is getting tiresome.

Agree completely. The first, what, 70 pages is two groups of people just killing each other in cold blood because of a few fucking psychos and the rest of the pussies following along because they're pussies.

Finished it. Slightly disappointed nothing really happened with the greater mystery.
Pretty much the entire book is just filled with one guy being a psychopath to another group of people because corporations.

I wonder if they gave Syfy an outline of the whole arc for a multi-season contract or if theyre just going book per season for now.

This last one was quite good...Even if it didn't progress the main story as much as I would have liked.

I finished this a while ago, and well.. Meh.

Corey is a great writer, but the Holden storyline is long overdue to be wrapped up. This isn't a bad book, but some of the things:

- Like the scientist chick being in love with Holden, then hey nevermind!
- Naomi is captured! Oh, well nevermind, she'll get herself out.
- Amos is dead! Nah, nevermind, he's fine at the end!

Really feels like filler. Holden needs to retire, and have just let the storyline be Amos flying around in the Roci kicking ass for a few books.

I think it was OK, really just needed more of the main plot to progress. And Corey is a pseudonym for two authors, Daniel Abraham and another author I can't remember.

Murtry kind of was being retarded. then when the devices came on online and he became EVEN MORE hardline, it occurred to me that he wasn't told to secure the lithium rights, but rather than he was sent to secure the alien tech for the evil corporation! I thought there would be a reveal and a "what a tweeest!" and some fuckers back on earth would be all "good, we love alien tech, kill some folks Murtry" (like in every aliens movie) but alas, nothing so logical. just seems like murtry was the most literal contract holder in human history.

I still love the series though. Still digging the setting. I think it's my favorite reasonable scifi setting I've seen in a while.

meh just finished the last book and was not impressed, the books have devolved from an interesting series about a weird alien species to the idiotic adventures of human beings who don't deserve to be alive

and james holden is seriously the most boring main character in the history of scifi, fucking miller was 100x more interesting and he's a goddamn ghost puppet

don't have high hopes for the SyFy series

Ghost puppet was about the only thing Holden had going for him... But, oh wait.

If Syfy cast someone that could make Holden seem interesting, they might do OK with this. I am not holding my breath either. Though this is the kind of story they seem to go for.

Finished it, not too bad. More interesting than Cibola Burn and it felt like something at least happened.

I really liked Nemesis Games...I doubted their ability to pull the story out of the tailspin they had set up...but they did.

I think the nemesis games was a better book than cibola burn although it is another demonstration that people are terrible although the terrible people in this one seem to at least have a legitimate beef.

I'm about 3/4 through Nemesis Games and... Meh. The plot is finally getting cool, but half a book of backstory on characters that we've known for several books gets a little old. Not a bad read though (unless he totally fucks up the ending) but I'm all Holden-ed out. A book about the Adventures Of Young Amos would be pretty cool though.

As an aside, the casting for the TV show is pretty horrible at a glance.

Casting wise just based on looks I feel like they nailed Alex but really disappointed in holden and amos. Would have liked Kevin Durand maybe or someone similar for amos. I forget holden is young and supposed to be pretty but this guy looks like he should be on the cw.

Finished Book 5:

Decent enough ending to set up the next book, I like the "gang's all here" thing that we should get in book 6. Naomi spending most of the book in distress just like the last book got old quick though, and honestly there's so much introspection from all of the characters this time around that the book felt pretty tedious and downright depressing at times. It's also the second book in a row that was spent mostly on planets... Big upside is is that Draper appears to be part of the crew now, and her chapters are always pretty fun.

Still a decent read, just hope we get back to cool space battles and whatnot. Looks like it should be headed that way.
