Earthdawn (which I use in my game) does as well. It makes things often very exciting and has caused me to sometimes radically change the overall planned storyline when a player rolls like 42 against a target number of 8 when trying to find a clue.

    Avatar 2 (2020)

The weird thing is that it's making all this money yet not many people seem to really enjoy it. Maybe the 'lets live in Pandora' second act works for some people, but I found it to be painfully dull and predictable. It was VERY pretty and it's fun to just look around and take in the visuals...

    God of War: Ragnarok

Rather than Egyptian gods I'd rather they do something like Mayan/Mesoamerican instead, or perhaps Babylonian. I quite liked the choice for Odin in this. It really played up the notion that he was a manipulator through and through. I am glad they didn't off the entire Norse pantheon like...

Hero / Champions was amazing fun back in highschool/college. Was good friends with a mega fan of the game who actually ended up doing some supplement work for them. The craziest thing about the system were the ways in which some people managed to craft crazy useful power sets with accountant...

    The D&D thread

This is one of the issues I have with the 'healbot' style of games wherein the one player who doesn't really want to be there gets charged with being a walking trauma center responsible for keeping everyone alive. The 'short rest' and daily hit dice was a massive improvement for D&D in that...

You and I and really anyone with a shred of imagination can come up with half a dozen relatively-easy monetization strategies that would have filled their coffers. Instead they came up with half-assed merch and a history of abject failure when it came to internal development of digital D&D...

I do wonder just how many D&D Beyond subs were cancelled this past week. You know that Hasbro didn't do a damn thing until their evergreen revenue source of monthly subs started to get dinged.

Its refreshing that the consensus is : fuck you Most people seem to be content with their decision to ditch DnDBeyond. Now the onus is on Hasbro to actually create a world class virtual table top for One D&D in order to compete and I guarantee they will not manage to do it. Then they will...

The initial reaction is exactly what you might think -- a mixture of qualified approval and disbelief : " Blog posts are not legally binding. I can say whatever i want in a press release, anything. Until we see an actual license document----nothing has changed." They do seem to realize they...

I agree that they have a right to make money, but they went completely lawyer-mad with this stuff. Too focused on believing they were entitled to everyone else's stuff than they were on making their own product. There is no reason why they couldn't have made Roll20 or Foundry and really set...

I could see the WOTC/Hasbro people saying 'well... fuck those dweebs. We have the movie coming out, we have Critical Role in our pocket, we will just get new fans, we don't need those losers anymore' It seems like an insane viewpoint, but some of those types believe that there is in infinite...

Someone at Hasbro must be close to hanging. Here they are releasing Nerf D&D toys, Action Figures from the 40 year old animated series & the new movie, Transformers, a Lego set etc. Launching a new series with Paramount+, preparing for a full-court marketing press to coincide with the movie...

I personally don't use OGL--based material at the moment, but I DO use Foundry VTT and Forge-VTT as a hosting service for my game and neither of them currently has a contractual arrangement with WOTC and would likely be barred from hosting or selling any OGL-based content. What does OGL v1.1...

I read a blurb on Discord (yeah yeah... bastion of journalism that...) that Owlcat was given a head's up about this more than a year ago and that's partly why they decided to effectively abandon Pathfinder and charge headlong into the Warhammer: Rogue Trader system. I wonder to what extent the existence of this game, which was released as a DND clone under the auspices of the OGL, has precipitated the current draconian changes being made by WOTC to revoke the open license itself. Marvel's Midnight Suns

I've been playing it a lot this past week. The writing is not good, but the gameplay of how the abilities work and how the deck building is done is top-tier. It is absolutely possible to gimp your team if you build out their deck poorly and/or don't realize the natural synergies that exist...

    Avatar: The Last Airbender

Avatars generally have a long life. Aang got shortchanged because he spent a century frozen in the ice, but most them live to be ~150+. This makes sense given the whole ~20+ years training before they can take on their role. If they only lived to 60 or so then your have 1/3 of human history...

This is a key selling point for the higher frame rate. It helps to eliminate the 'tinfoil in a blender' sensation that dominated the Bayformers movies what with every frame ending up kinda blurry due to the extent and speed of what was being displayed on the screen & tracked by a moving...

If you see it at all it's worth seeing in the nicest 3D theater you can find. Cameron's whole process is why 3D was even a thing 10+ years ago and he still has it. It pops in a way that no other 3D movies I've seen since the original Avatar. It truly is gorgeous.

Saw it in a laser 3D high frame rate etc. brand new theater and the visuals were amazing. I think the high frame rate helped the 3D effect considerably as it felt 'real' and not 'soap opera' ish. As to the plot ... ... The visuals were amazing.

I would have liked to have seen a Cavill version of the 'cardboard' speech from Superman the Animated Series. I don't think I care enough about an 'early 20s' Superman. After all those years of Smallville, the Animated Series, even Supergirl I feel there's not much room for anything that...
