I picked up a Slate today. 650b "road" bike with a 30mm lefty on it. It's gloriously silly fun.

I totally agree on discs. I'm not an expert or anything but I do a bunch of XC/enduro racing throughout the season (with a podium or two). Good brakes that modulate well are definitely a huge part of being able to ride smoother, and smooth = fast. As far as the lefty, I've always wanted one...

I think they're about $3500 now, but I got mine for 2800 at the end of last season. I tossed a dropper on it and it's perfect (though I did throw an 11 speed drivetrain on there because Jenson had some crazy stupid deals over the winter on XT stuff. Shifter/Derailleur/chain/cassette for around...

Check out the Rocky Mountain Sherpa. It's their 27.5+ "Bikepacking Bike". I have one and it's fucking awesome, it's insanely comfortable and a great all-rounder. Decent for XC, usable in snow (if you get any), great in rock gardens and has a ton of range.

I ordered up a new toy. Should be here in a week or two. Who can guess what it is? Hints: - Will be green anodized shit everywhere on it - My other bikes are a slacked out 160mm all mountain, an awesomely-comforable-but-slow 27.5+ trail couch, and a fatty. - I needed something fast for XC...

Built some new wheels for my trance. Stans MK3 with glorious blue anodized Hope hubs and nipples. Anodized parts = KOMs. Unintentionally artsy farsy pics are just because the background is snow, heh.

I fat bike a ton, and have done a few fat metrics in sub-30 temps. Layers are definitely your friend. If you cramp a lot, either bring something salty or give Sportlegs a shot. As for boots, I use Lake 303s. They aren't cheap ($250-300) but they are fucking awesome. I've worn them on...

I am dying for some snow up here, but I pretty much ensured a brown winter up here already - I bought a new AWD car, a new snowblower and a new snowboard. We got fuck all for snow last year so I'm hoping we get bombed this season.

Ordered one of these today, just the Rival 22 carbon build. Backcountry is blowing the 2016s out for only 2450, so it was nigh impossible to pass up. I'm not sure how to anodize it yet...

It might be smaller than 12x12, I have the builder's plans but they're for a "similar house" that's like 99% of mine. Home inspection is on the 6th, so I can re-measure it then, but either way it's one of those things that I want to just do something decent for the time being and then in a year...

Aye, we'll almost certainly be moving that unit. I'm not sure if it's part of the local code or something in the HOA for the community, but it is definitely a shit spot. I'm pretty sure lurkingdirk has the right of it, just a lazy contractor. The house is awesome, but there are definitely a few...

If I'm sure the house is fine, should I slap the wife anyway? Here's another pic - it's from the appraisal, which is a super compressed PDF full of pictures taken with what appears to be a camera phone from 1996. The central air unit is in kid of a lousy spot too.

Any of you fuckers clever with carpentry? This is my new house. New construction (we move in 3 weeks) which is why the yard is dirt and whatnot. NH, just over the border up Rt 3, you get a lot more for your money the further out from Lowell-ish you go. This house would be 900+ in Lexington/Concord.
