ever think about a soundbar?

usually soundbars are just the bar and subwoofer and use that sound reflection technology to simulate 5.1, this one has rear speakers for a more traditional sound. I set this up with a friend a while back, just connect hdmi out to the soundbar (depending on your tv, you might have to use the toslink/optical out) this soundbar connects wirelessly to the subwoofer (which of course needs power) the subwoofer can be place anywhere, so place it behind the couch, the rear speakers connect to the subwoofer.

Not sure what your situation is, but there are plenty of universal wireless speaker converters for rear satellites in 5.1 systems. They cost like 50$, so if you've already got a setup or want to get an otherwise less expensive system and convert it's quite easy.
Sound bars are alright for smaller spaces but will never really compete with a real 5.1 system.
