It was ok, I didn't know anything about it before I watched and kept waiting for things to explode, but of course that's not what the director wanted to portray

That's kind of the point. It doesn't seem fake because he's not murdering everyone in his path, and it makes the scenes of actual action feel organic rather and forced for the movie's sake. I just thought it was extremely compelling, not at all what I was expecting.

You could see the intentional influence of Pacino/Pfeiffer on the main guy and his wife
