Probably the greatest comedy series ever.

Gervais no longer writes with Stephen Merchant so not sure how good it will be. His last show "Derek" was awful. Hoping the rest of the film isn't just crude semen jokes, whilst they were part of the original series they were not the only component of the humour and just a very small part of the laughs

The Office UK is the original and superior version. I didn't even finish the pilot of the US remake which was just an almost word for word copy of the UK first episode.

I have lost count of the number of times I've watched each season of The Office UK, now Gervais is bringing back David Brent. Unfortunately Stephen Merchant isn't on co-writing duties and I think Gervais should not resurrected the character unless he could guarantee a 9/10 or 10/10 film.

Based on trailers this looks like a 6/10

Judges a series that ran 188 episodes by less than one episode -- all he needs to know it is inferior. Excellent shitpost.

The first season was poor because it did try to be a lot like the UK office, but then it found its own style and voice and was a lot better for it.

I have friends that have urged me to try the US Office but it's just not my style of humour.

The point at which I turned off the pilot was when they used the Budweiser "wassssssssssuuuuup" meme. That meme was still relevant when the UK Office aired, but not however many years later when the US Office was shot.

it wasn't good imo

some laughs but it was just painful to watch. The Office had its cringe factor but the supporting cast around Gervais helped balance it. this does not have that.

Yeah agreed, I don't think it's possible to explain how big an influence the UK Office was on my generation. My college friends and I must have watched each series 10+ times, at get-togethers it's what we'll throw on at 3am after a night out.

Just yesterday a kid at work pointed out how a lot of my mannerisms are pure Brent, lol.

But yeah, The Office was never just about Brent. He should have left the character alone

This movie was pretty bad. Hardly laughed at all through it and it just seemed so forced. I also loved the UK office but this wasn't even close.
