I know the first one was divisive but I played it 3 times. There's something about that game that I just love, it's one of my favorite game of all time.

So hyped for this, it looks awesome.

This is somehow even more of an acid trip than the first one.

So I am jonseing for a game to play, kcd2 honestly ended well before I was done playing so it left a big open world hole in my heart and I have no idea what to fill it with. I though about playing death stranding but the bits I have seen of other people playing the game just looks boring as fuck, is it one of those games where playing it is a completely different experience than watching it be played?

Really like the art design of DS1 and now DS2. Never played DS1, so I have zero clue wtf is going on or being referred to in that trailer.

it's kind of a weird mix of chill game and planning game play. you have to walk between point A and B. early on you opt for an extra rope or ladder. later you'll want to bring a bike, but how do you pass the rocks. so you engage in physics gameplay to try to put a ladder down and ride the moterbike up it. or wheely through the rocky outcropping. You try to greedily carry as many packages as you can but your guy has more hilarious failures when you bust your ass in the river. or run under an overhang and knock boxes off.

the villian in DS1 was great, and some of t he characters are good, some are hamfistedly overacted (kojima). You kind of develop a feel for traversing the terrain and using the various tools efficiently. the ghost things can be bizarre and some of the bosses are absurd if you don't understand precisely how to fight them.

It can also feel cool to slowly tame the world. to build bridges or zip lines over rough terrain. you may end up backtracking over places you previously were on your fancy new road or bridge, and look out over the jagged rocks remember how you drowned out a truck trying to use the river to get past them.

and in a typical kojima fashion, everyone you meet has backstory that is revealed and everyone you meet is some flavor of fucked up. the worlds lore is pretty horrific and being a guy ballys enough to risk death in the wilderness (which results in basically a nuke going off when you die) sets you up to be heroic doing mundane things.

I need to go back and finish the first one; I connected all of the areas at the start of the game but never really advanced past that section; spent way too much time kicking the other guys' asses and building roads and never went back to advance the story. I know that still super early, from part 2 to 3? Might need to get it on PC this time and give it a go.

hah yea it's easy to get lost in just building out roads and stealing from the cargo cultists. if you were building roads that's the second area. it's the biggest. the third area is kind of small and inhospitable.

It’s definitely more fun to play than watch. That said it’s definitely a strange, you either get into it or don’t. I don’t think there’s a middle ground here. It’s not called a walking simulator for nothing. 😁

For me I think I just enjoy the chill aspect of it. There is not a lot of combat, it’s mostly delivering stuff from A to B and rebuilding the world to make deliveries easier. It’s about finding the best path, trying to get a lot of deliveries to the same destination so you’re more efficient. The extreme difference between when you arrive in a new area and when you have built your delivery network is massive which ends up being an extremely rewarding. You can clearly see the impact you have on the world.

I totally understand people who don’t like it though. You get rewarded in a very different way than traditional games and some people just don’t like it and that’s just fine.

The story is weird as fuck but very interesting at the same time. The characters are almost all interesting and very well acted and voiced.

I thought the first one was supposed to be a walking simulator, don't know much about it, then I watch this and WTF, it looks so awesome and crazy. Maybe I need to look more into the first one now.
