Dropbox is still the easiest to use, by far, for automatic picture uploading.

I have a free 1TB from Google Drive from being a Google Fiber subscriber, and I still pay $10 a month to Dropbox for their 1TB, because I don't want to teach my wife & mother how to use Google Drive/Google Plus to manage photos. I don't like the Google Plus integration at all.

I installed copy a year or two ago, and their interface definitely fucking blows compared to Dropbox. It also is incredibly easy to fuck up and delete everything you were trying to back up. I got mine up to something like 100GB for free (when that was a lot), and it still wasn't worth using. It actually just notified me a couple months ago that if I didn't use it, it would be deleted, so I let it delete. I also pay the $10 a month for Dropbox because it is awesome and well worth it to me. My seedbox automatically syncs everything I download to my home computer via Dropbox, for example.

As far as those referral sites, I'd imagine they aren't terribly risky if all you want is more space for fucking around with. I guess technically they could delete your account with no warning, but I doubt that would happen, more likely it would just be over capacity and you'd have to remove stuff to bring it down. But maybe don't put anything vitally important in there without backing it up somewhere else for awhile.

Tried the referral site, got 32 referrals in a days time and dropbox space. Not bad, will see if it lasts - backups (of backed up data) are for pussies.

could you use something like btsync for that seedbox(never had one) instead. I use 3 VPS(virtual private servers) for work and it was alot easy to install btsync on all 3 than using dropbox/copy.com it was also faster too, since they didn't have to upload to dropbox first and then sync to my comp.

I started with BTSync, but it would eventually get out of sync and stop working. I have no idea why.

Now, on a similar note, Dropbox also gets out of sync for some reason on it, but at least I can fix it quickly by removing the directory from sync and then adding it again. Also, BTSync would do it weekly, whereas Dropbox usually takes longer to get hosed.

I don't know, something about the Whatbox makes it impossible to keep fully synced for more than a month or two at a time. With BTSync it was a lot harder for me to get it going again, so I eventually switched. Also, unless I'm doing some 80GB porn rip, the upload to Dropbox is typically really fast, and it has the added safety net of it being up on Dropbox no matter what happens to your other computers. I'll admit, maybe BTSync would be as easy now that I know more about it, but I don't think so. I've got it working now, for the most part, so close enough.

EDIT: Anyway, that's not the reason I actually pay for Dropbox, it is just an added benefit. I have a ton of other shit I like to keep synced in there, including several hundred gigs of my music that I share between home and work.

i'd have btsync as a "sync" issue once in a while as well, i figured out the fix was "time" related or some shit, but either rebooting my main computer or one of vps', let it all sync again, maybe keep that on the backburner if you want to use btsync again. heck you could just btsync your dropbox directory.
