Looks to me like it might have pre-set characters to choose from, as well as a normal character creation? That could be cool. I'd like to play as the assassin chick with the dagger.

Who TF is Wydler? I'm guessing the main "good guy" if there are pre-made characters? Then again he's on the box, and Messmer dominated the previous cover art.

I guess we're never going to see Godwyn, eh. Well, we didn't get a real fight with Miquella or St Trina so it's just as well I guess.

Edit: Looked around and I think it's confirmed it has 8 pre-made characters (with potentially more unlockable) rather than character creation. Works for me. This could either be tremendous or super mid.

Wydler definitely gonna be some big bad but not THE big bad.

Radahn and Malenia were the two promoted for elden ring
Messmer for the dlc

I can confirm that Wydler is actually one of the playable characters, so that's out.

No clue who the big bad is for this one. The Night Lord, I guess? Don't remember anything like that being alluded to in the original game.

Yeah I found out after I watched something he was a playable character. Weird

Friend is in the test groups. Said it’s really fun but definitely going to be something you play with your bros and not PUGs.

That's what I'm hearing. I'm gonna need to find a squad to run this with on PS5. From the sound of things, sticking with the same group through all 8 (24) levels is probably the way to go.

This games potential is insane, looking forward to what they are going to do with it. It could be extraction based pvp as well as all the other types. Knowing fromsoft they going to add a bunch more classes and a fuck ton of spells, skills, arts.

From the network test it seems like it has a good base. Longevity wise, I hope they add a lot to it. This game will live of die by how much content it has

I'm down to two studios I trust not to release bad/shoddy games. FromSoft and Larian. That said, the game might not be for me, but I think the content will be there, especially since the assets are already made. They just need to patchwork them into the game.

Limgrave was in the test. For the full game my guess is there will be additional circles in Lurnia, Mountain region, Altus and Caelid. Limgrave and Lurnia are large enough to split into two, north and south. So that's a minimum of 5, possibly 7?

Unsure if the underground areas will have one since those are more split up zones and not large enough alone? Same with the Crumbeling Farum island(s) in the sky.

Then probably later DLC (or in the full game), areas of the Realm of Shadow. 3-4 new areas?

They certainly have the landmass available in Elden Ring to make enough areas that it won't get too stale. And since they are also using bosses from all games, they are in no shortage of those either. Peeve was sure one of the bosses they encountered in this test was a boss from a developer dungeon in the chalise section of Bloodborne that was never released.

Seems like this is them getting the most out of their existing assets, like how Souls 2 had that ice DLC made out of unused Demon Souls stuff. The Chalice dungeons themselves were probably composed of things they made for the base game and didn't use.

Getting the feeling this might be Fromsoft's first miss in a long time. A "world" can be beaten in like 45 minutes, and there are 8 worlds, so...yeah, people are going to be done with this in one weekend.

I'm sure they'll add a few DLCs to it and bump up the level count, but I don't get the impression this will be much more than a glorified DLC.

I don't think you understand how Roguelites work

I've got a good enough idea of it, played Hades a couple years ago. So Nightreign's levels are designed to basically be played over and over again to see what random drops you have to work with this time?

That could work. It could even be awesome. That said, it also reminds me an awful lot of South Park: Snow Day, that terrible budget game last year that was a 3-person multiplayer roguelike that took place across 5 levels with 3 sections each. ...oh shit.

"Formless master" ... the Formless Mother, perhaps?

I figured they'd leave Formless Mother as the big bad for Elden Ring 2, but it would be great if we fought it here instead since ER2 is hardly a given.

Then again I also thought Shadow of the Erdtree would give us fights with Godwyn and Miquella. The final boss of this game will probably be a morphing Mimic Tear or something

This game reminds me of the coop MP in Mass Effect 2 or Dragon Age Inquisition, but with ER mechanics. Thats a good thing, imo. First month or so is going to be crazy while they balance tune this (Dutchess just massively outclasses the other base classes in the test) and work in more content.

I actually recall them specifically saying there wouldn't be an elden ring 2

I mean I want it, but that had to take so long to make
