Edit: Someone that talked like a GM said characters are staying till end of weekend, so dunno.

The way it worked last time is that servers are largely mirrored for characters. Make a character on server A, progress is carried to server B type stuff.

I logged in for a few minutes to run around a bit. It's still fun but a lot of little obnoxious things that just make it harder than it needs to be remain such as:

1) Mob names are the same color alive or dead so screen just gets cluttered with corpses.
2) No item compare to equip (that I could find) that brings up both tooltips (should be mouseover)
3) Other char's quest text in the chat window

A lot of these things are 1000x worse when everyone is in the one city.

I too have spent half my play time, in the last test and now so far in this one, lost (started in human city last time, elf in this one). Not that I mind that much, since it's all new exploring and Beastmaster has almost nothing that agros (this time; my necro last time was getting fucked up everywhere, as he should), but still read someone mention a semi-updated wiki and went to find it. Played around a bit today... Ah the nostalgia factor is strong with the same clunky controls and blocky graphics. Feels slower to level though than the original, especially in the beginning, also feels harder. I remember in the original one could take on mobs a couple of levels higher, but here its practically a death sentence

I tried playing a bit again. War wizard gets a quest to bring by some elemental components and get an item to summon a boss elemental.

Summoned it and a bunch of other dudes ran up, one of them was higher level killed it and loot went to him due to damage. Only option was now to run all the way back to the quest NPC and get another item to try it.

Lmao ain't got time for this shit anymore.

I really enjoyed this, but man I just know I am not going to have the time to put the hours in needed for this game.

My EQ grinding days a long gone, life got in the way :(

Wife and I had a blast casualing it up.

Even the kid got involved on his own character on the last day.

There is something about the world thats just...catchy. Like Minecraft with depth.

No. That would not be cool. There's more than a dozen actual reasons. But I'll go with : EQ Character Class System is Dated. No Boats for Player Characters. EQ Quest System is Dated. No True Defensive Target (just ToT) : See 1 EQCDiD. Raiding System is Dated. END Game Solo and Group Content is Kinda Dated. You Can't Go Home Again, Ever.

You need at least 50 Classes/Jobs/Skills in a Modern MMO to be Cool. Which is to say the EQ Tank/Healer/DPS/CC View of the World is dated

I'm trying to get some mapping functionality so that icons can be placed on a map but I'm not manually placing every pin on a map in a text editor.

If someone has experience with MediaWiki extensions and mapping, I'm all ears, doing this from the ground up atm.
