Back when it was the Winston Cup (top) and Busch League (mid) racing, Charlotte Motor Speedway would host non-race events. Any type of open house/swap meet would have Anheiser(sp?)-Busch & Winston booths that would give out half cartons of cigs & free cans of beer with proof of ID. One of those events was when (I think it was) President Clinton had a Mustang? and brought it to the track.
It's been a long time and I've had my head cut open. The world really used to be much much different. NC was tobacco land!
Hell I would go to those because I was working on a 'check processing center' , what would be a data center now, for Wachovia Bank and it was down the road from the speedway. Wachovia was based in Winston-Salem NC to handle the cigarette co's money and if you worked at that bank you could smoke at your desk! This was in the late 80's early 90's. Only construction site I worked on that allowed you to smoke / chew when finishes started.
shit now I gotta find a pic. Ahh a good one with my man Earnhardt!
EDIT: for the record I don't smoke or chew and think it's fucking stupid. I did get my half cartons and give them to my buddies at work though. Hell free is free.
