Unless you have some super smart dragon, then essentially it is a flying dinosaur horse that breathes fire. Eventually you want someone that can direct it to conform to whatever battle tactic is being planned.

Last year did these come out on HBO GO at the same time they were aired on TV?
I have a HBO GO 30 day trial but I need to know if they are released late, on time and/or kept to watch like the normal on demand.
I figure I can wait until the 4th episode, sign up, watch them all then cancel cause HBO in general can go F itself.

Dragons are super smart in GOT. You're really just severely limiting their mobility and can't give much instruction while flying anyways.

Well, from what we have seen, they are probably at least as smart as wolves/dogs. But in a battle, if you give them instructions and things change, you need a way to adapt on the fly.

If they have a tendency to do their own thing, even with some degree of intelligence, it's probably beneficial to have a rider who is capable of directing them with an eye towards tactics.

Directed artillery fire.

Lets assume they're smart enough to be able to tell the redshirts from the blueshirts, so they don't go scorching armies indiscriminately. The rules say that they're that smart, if they're willful and will do it just for the lols sometimes anyway. Still, if you can be up there be all "the horses hidden behind that ridge, drogo, not the infantry that our army is about to engage" then it's probably for the best.

They're supposed to be as smart/smarter than people.

You're limiting the fuck out of their mobility since if they try evasive maneuvers or go too fast you're not holding on. You'd also only be able to give instruction when they're mostly stationary due to drag/wind resistance.

GRRM posted on his blog about the spinoffs, he said he is involved in all 4 of them, there is a 5th, he ruled out Robert's Rebellion (dumb) and Dunk and Egg (dumber but he says he's still 'writing' those, lolol, I bet he is).

Not sure what the hell they could be about, I mean sure GoT is full of history, but enough interesting history to make a TV show about? I wonder. We're going to be ending up with someone trying to spin a few sentences from the World of Ice and Fire into a full blown story and I am not sure I trust that. Guess it depends on the sentences and the someone.

About Those Spinoffs...

So Weiss and Benioff aren't writing any of them. Good.

Their writing has been merely serviceable without his finished works to rely on. I'm up for seeing what someone else can do with the setting.

Maesters
Watchers
Free Folk
Dothraki
Targaryen

Right there are five groups that could have spinoff shows based around them quite easily. They would all be quite boring but they would make good money for at least a season.

Night's Watch stories could be pretty good, have to figure that would be intertwined with the Free Folk though.

Targaryen stuff could be interesting as well. Don't give any more shits about the Dothraki though, pretty standard stuff there.

Dunk & Egg and Dance of Dragons seemed the more conspicuous options. I would dig a miniseries leading up to Summerhall.
