This is the same independent studio that did Sound of Freedom. A nuke goes off in LA and our ex-green beret protagonist finds himself in a prepper compound. This wouldn't normally have been something I would have connected with except for how much it looks to me like someone combined The Death of Grass by Sam Youd and Lucifer's Hammer by Larry Niven and Jerry Pournelle. Each is about an ecological collapse and the chaos of such events with the collapse happening early in each book. Lucifer's Hammer specifically makes a defensible community in a mountainous region the eventual focalpoint of the narrative and a climactic defense against an army of cannibals. That's right, almost thirty years before The Road we've got cannibals during an apocalypse.

Hopefully I'm right and the writers shamelessly pillaged those two books for ideas.

I feel like this would make a much better limited series. There are so many things and stories that would occur if the supply chain for medicine and food were wiped out. I will be curious to see how hardcore this gets, because it would be a nightmare. Having to tell people and their families that there is not enough food......

I think those are good comparisons. Was also thinking about Alas Babylon, but that was more of a big community, not necessarily a compound if I remember correctly. It's been a long time since I've read it.

Movie looks interesting enough and I'll probably give it my time whenever it comes to streaming.

Thanks for posting it...👍🏻

I think at some point preppers are gonna get smart and realize humans are the weak link in the defense chain.

Fuck guys with guns defending the fence. Automate that shit. Electronics don't care how sad the people begging for food look or what hurty names it gets called. Brrzzzzzt.

good for tix today/tomorrow only, max $15/ticket I think (will cover fees)

a friend saw it last night and said the ending sucks and its basically just bait setup for the TV show but this wasn't anything i was ever gonna be interested in anyways. I do recognize the lead from Justified, he played a weird bad guy in it

Saw some scenes from this on social media

shows a evil government agent leading a giant swat force to arrest the compound and confiscate all their weapons and guns to “equally distribute” to all people

and they actually showed the government and cops to seem to be the bad guys and the peppers good guys.

I’m shocked this was allowed in the people’s republic of holllywood and isn’t being shut on by the media

Sorry, not sorry. Lost me at prominent mixed family and every kid looks heavily brown vs ai least a non cucked white latte.

Sorta conservative independent studio, either still Hollywood at heart or somehow had to get a couple dei points to proceed.

Is the dumb ending that #ourgreatestally Bibi sends help?

Angel Studios, the studio behind this movie is not a Hollywood studio. They are based in Utah, raised most of their money from Mormons and evangelical Christians, and basically put out movies for church goers.

They were behind the big successes like Sound of Freedom, The Shift, Cabrini, etc. A lot of their ticket sales are a bit phantom since they actively encourage supporters to "pay it forward" and buy tickets for others (they have a website dedicated to that) and they run 100% free tickets for every one of their movies, I know since I've booked every time for the reward points lol.

If the movie is basically "people suck, but if you believe in Jesus you can do some good" its a good chance its an Angel Studios movie. Its nice they are out there serving this Mel Gibson/Kevin Sorbo sorta audience but their movies tend to be pretty vanilla, sorta like fucking a Mormon.

Race mixing: the one thing Hollywood and the modern church enthusiastically agree on.
