You know I actually made a point to come and read/check the sticky! (I've made movie threads before) and for some unearthly reason I still went to the wrong one.

I'm blaming the glow in my eyes.

This was not at all what I thought it would be. It was okay. Well made, but was disappointed in the direction it actually went vs what I was expecting from the trailer. If you are LGBTQIA bullshit you will probably identify with this movie.

Will probably never watch again.

Still waiting for this to come to one of my stream sites, but I guess I was imagining it to be a mix of videodrome and the color out of space...

It's not at all, it's a bit genre-less and difficult to draw parallels with. It's one of those movies that will probably sit better if you go into it not expecting it to be horror. I agree with Chanur Chanur , it's an interesting watch but just not very good of a movie. The boy/girl from the new Bill and Ted is also a tremendously shitty actress, she has no range at all and is the exact same character in every movie

Jane Schoenbrun, the writer and director of the 2024 film I Saw the TV Glow, is a trans woman and their identity has influenced the film. Schoenbrun began writing the film three months after starting hormone replacement therapy and coming out as transgender. They described the experience as "overwhelming calamity" and wrote the film as an allegory to avoid making transitioning or coming out the central focus of the plot. Schoenbrun says the film can be read in many ways, but that their identity as a trans woman is an important influence.

Did we have a conversation about this movie? I'm so sorry if we did, I don't remember. I think I'm getting Alzheimer's and I'm only in my mid-40s.

That's probably what's going to kill me. My grandma and Grandpa both had dementia or Alzheimer's. We don't have cancer or anything in the family but pretty sure if I'm getting punched out, it'll be my brain going. Told my wife already if I don't remember how to cast a fly rod, just put a bullet in me. She wasn't exactly happy with that.
