Ya, it was pretty decent. It doesn't really have a ton in common with the films. The theme of "how far would you go for family?" makes for some good ethical situations and drama.

The girl in the original turns out to have been a boy who had his genitals hacked off. Presumably that was too hard to deal with for the target audience.
