That's a bummer. I listened to Temporal on Audible and it was a multi-actor performance w/ sound FX and because of it the audio levels are all over the place compared to our normal audio book we put on, so I listen to it a lot less now that I finished it.

Saw it yesterday, IMO probably the best hard Sci-Fi movie I've seen for the last 5 years. I don't watch teasers / trailers / ad campaigns, I went to the theater just because "that korean director doing a sci-fi movie with Pattinson". I genuinely got amazed at the film's tone. It's fun, entertaining and asks interesting questions.
This movie was great. Pattinson did a great job with both of his roles. Good amount of serious with enough humor built in. I agree with best sci fi I have seen recently. It felt a smidge too long but not off putting. It kept me hooked the whole time.
I definitely started tearing up when 18 sacrificed himself. I am terrified of death myself and seeing him be afraid but going through with it really got to me.

The off the rails bullshit is nothing more than a distraction for the fact the movie is just shit. The humor doesn't land at all. The fucking sauce joke didn't land and for some reason they rode that stupid fucking joke into the ground the entire fucking movie.
Great concept and they completely fucked it up. Wait to watch it for free... It's almost 2 hours and 20 mins long but feels like 4.
This would have been better as a series not a movie. Don't spend money on this shit.

watched the HDHub4u cam, it has a watermark and some ads, but pretty watchable.
i'd give it a 5/10. have don't care one way or the other for pattinson, didn't like mickey, but guess by design to have the charisma of a potato. liked the idea, but just poorly done.

The beating the audience over the head with the Trump character was so ham fisted.
You can make a character that can be interpreted as trumpian... But this was "the audience is too retarded to get it without making everyone wear red hats"

Also felt like they cut scenes or just didn't bother to develop certain characters. I didn't get the feeling there was a large anti Trump group on the ship. They just kinda showed up at the end.

Great. I'll never stay awake through this one. I've tried to watch 2001 like a hundred times. Never made it more than halfway. And some people say that's a good movie.

Yeah not worth a trek out to theaters. I saw it in Dolby today and thought it was ok. Honestly the plot was simpler than a random transporter episode of Star Trek. I was hoping for more complexity in the story, there really is zero depth to anything in the characters or story or setting.
Worth a watch at home I guess when its out on 4K torrents but 75% of the movie is just room scenes with 2 people talking. There really aren't any big action scenes and nothing cinematic like Dune 2 or DP3, the last two movies I saw in theaters. I'd compare it to The Gorge in terms of quality/story, if you liked that you'd probably like this.

the movie creates effectively immortality, billionaires would do anything for that tech. Die? No big deal, reprint a clone and put backed up memories into it. I was expecting a twist that the cult was reprinting everyone and degradation was gonna start happening or something, but nope, nobody seems to give a shit that you can live forever now lol

i think there is one major plot point a lot of reviewers miss, which is fair since its barely talked about in the movie
When Mickey 17 gets his daily memory transfer before he goes on his "death mission" (find a live specimen), there is a glitch or something and its clear a 100% memory transfer doesn't occur to the drive, pieces are missing. Mickey 18 is VERY different from every previous Mickey, he talks different but most importantly he doesn't blame himself for his moms death (red button in car).
Mickey 2-17 felt they deserved all the bad shit that happened to them because of guilt at their moms death. Mickey 18 says its not their fault their mom died, it was a faulty car part that led to the accident. He redirects his guilt into anger at the system/leaders.
Unfortunately that aspect which is one of the more interesting ideas in the movie, our memories make us who we are, isn't really explored at all in depth and just one of the 20 sub plots that kinda go nowhere. I was hoping for some more out of that whole idea, like Mickey 18 making dozens of clones of himself to do something unexpected.
