Yeah I remember when Street Fighter 2 cost on SNES was $74.99 because the "cart memory was more expensive." Which was bullshit. It was 5 meg. Then Tales of Phantasia launched at $49.99 and was 6 meg.
Nintendo is just doing what every other business does and in this case, they are gaining way more profit with price parity in other platforms who have/are moving their retail up to $69.99. Nintendo has never been a loss leader in Hardware - they profit from everything they sell.
