Do people tell you things they shouldn't? I dont mean like they killed someone, at least not yet. I got a call and the person I talked to told me they wanted to hire me to basically break the law. Why would you tell someone that? They don't know me. I replied no thanks, I've ben a lot of rules but I don't set out to break them and there's a difference.
This has happened near all my adult life. Not just in business. What possess someone to say that and to think they won't eventually run into someone that will turn around and have it bite them in the ass.
I don't understand people.
I had a client who was in the Indian doctor, and we were going to re-roof his building, over 600 squares, 3 inch trap, and back in 2017 was $700,000 bucks or so. At the time he had a commercial property management company, and I need dealings I ever had with the dude had this other gentleman involved.
I got the job because I was re-roofing the building from the neighboring business, this old guy who was on his way to retirement, and it actually owned the other building who he sold to the Indian who was his doctor. I guess that's how I got my foot in the door.
I just remember during one of the meetings that I had had with Indian doctor, he said why don't we keep all the money and and just do some repairs. I looked at him and said sir that's insurance fraud, and the screwed up thing is the property manager when the Indian doctor said that, his eyes lit up and looked at me, but when I responded in the appropriate manner, he knew everything was cool and on the level. Indian doctor screwed me a second time after they had another really bad storm, and we put in months of work to get everything approved and rocking and rolling, and he basically kept the money, about a million dollar project. Fiber see that man again I'll beat his ass into the ground. He had the audacity to tell my business owner that I was being adversarial, and I have done nothing other than being accommodating and answering his phone calls anytime he's ever had an issue.
He knows that but all he wanted to do was basically insurance fraud. Pocketed probably $800,000, I miss was right towards the end of biden's term
Point being is there a lot of people out there looking to gain for cheap or steal from whatever avenues they have access to, whether they're upper class middle class or lower class.
I've been screwed by enough clients that I thought that a handshake and your word is enough, and I've learned that hard lesson that it's not the case. I guess that's why we probably only need to be carrying Big iron on our hips. You steal a man's cattle, are you break a deal, well then meet me at dawn.
It just sucks because you end up losing money going after people through the courts, and I guess mine business owners I've always just said it's not worth the trouble, but God damn do I not have a list of fuckers I tried to bend over backwards for but have screwed us.
People are animals, and they will always resort to whatever is in their best interest, no matter how shitty it might be, even if it includes insurance fraud or money laundering or a Ponzi scheme.
