Do people tell you things they shouldn't? I dont mean like they killed someone, at least not yet. I got a call and the person I talked to told me they wanted to hire me to basically break the law. Why would you tell someone that? They don't know me. I replied no thanks, I've ben a lot of rules but I don't set out to break them and there's a difference.

This has happened near all my adult life. Not just in business. What possess someone to say that and to think they won't eventually run into someone that will turn around and have it bite them in the ass.

I don't understand people.

You are a free agent with useful skills. Most people with that skill set are beholden to/for companies.

I had a client who was in the Indian doctor, and we were going to re-roof his building, over 600 squares, 3 inch trap, and back in 2017 was $700,000 bucks or so. At the time he had a commercial property management company, and I need dealings I ever had with the dude had this other gentleman involved.

I got the job because I was re-roofing the building from the neighboring business, this old guy who was on his way to retirement, and it actually owned the other building who he sold to the Indian who was his doctor. I guess that's how I got my foot in the door.

I just remember during one of the meetings that I had had with Indian doctor, he said why don't we keep all the money and and just do some repairs. I looked at him and said sir that's insurance fraud, and the screwed up thing is the property manager when the Indian doctor said that, his eyes lit up and looked at me, but when I responded in the appropriate manner, he knew everything was cool and on the level. Indian doctor screwed me a second time after they had another really bad storm, and we put in months of work to get everything approved and rocking and rolling, and he basically kept the money, about a million dollar project. Fiber see that man again I'll beat his ass into the ground. He had the audacity to tell my business owner that I was being adversarial, and I have done nothing other than being accommodating and answering his phone calls anytime he's ever had an issue.

He knows that but all he wanted to do was basically insurance fraud. Pocketed probably $800,000, I miss was right towards the end of biden's term

Point being is there a lot of people out there looking to gain for cheap or steal from whatever avenues they have access to, whether they're upper class middle class or lower class.

I've been screwed by enough clients that I thought that a handshake and your word is enough, and I've learned that hard lesson that it's not the case. I guess that's why we probably only need to be carrying Big iron on our hips. You steal a man's cattle, are you break a deal, well then meet me at dawn.

It just sucks because you end up losing money going after people through the courts, and I guess mine business owners I've always just said it's not worth the trouble, but God damn do I not have a list of fuckers I tried to bend over backwards for but have screwed us.

People are animals, and they will always resort to whatever is in their best interest, no matter how shitty it might be, even if it includes insurance fraud or money laundering or a Ponzi scheme.

Not me but my stepdad. He bought one of those dodge vans from the late 80s/early 90s with wood paneling (a Griswold) from a police auction. Wood paneling Not important to the story, but it sets the scene.

He had it maybe a year or so and took it to a mechanic to do some repairs, I want to say maybe ball bearings. While under the car, the mechanic notices a box welded under the front passenger seat. The pull back the rug and it's a safe. He's able to get it open and they find a bunch of coke inside.

Mechanic asked my stepdad if he wanted to split and sell it, which he refused. Turns out it was worth roughly $250k after talking to the police .. which thankfully it was purchased from a police auction and they could trace who it originally belonged to or I'm sure my stepdad would've been in potential trouble.

Anyways after seizing that,.my stepfather decided to just sell the van. Dude who originally owned t was in prison and he was afraid he'd track us down n

People like that doctor...are they the reason pretty much every type of insurance is so goddamn expensive now?

I don't think I've ever gotten "And this time when I killed a man"... But apparently I have been told that I'm disarmingly easy to talk to which had led to some inappropriate conversations in a lot of environments.

oh I got a story

this was probably 20 years ago. one summer between semesters at college, I got a night job that paid pretty well. I thought it would be more IT related, but ended up being just data entry. this company was putting out an updated CD w/ all the spare parts for ford cars and trucks. our job was to look at the old version and new version to see if they were the same or different. mind numbing. most working this job were the dregs of society you'd expect. a few were young like me. on our very well tracked breaks and 30 minute lunch, we all sat at the same table. 1 hot Asian chick, maybe Filipino. then 4-5 dudes. most were in college. this one guy admitted to dropping out. we talked about college parties and such, some flirting. one day the girl shows at tattoo that was on the middle of her quad, she pulls up her skirt a bit so we could see it. a dolphin or something. well, dude who dropped out must have gotten his juices flowing. so he starts talking about calling sex lines. how he'd 'go off on them'. then he said at one college party, he was helping this girl in the bathroom who was puking and passed out. he said while she was passed out, head on the toilet, he pulled up her skirt "and reared her right there". this was towards the end of the summer and they cut a bunch of us. me and the Asian girl worked there a few more weeks and talked about how much of a creep he was. dude looked just like that Peterson dude who killed his pregnant wife and dumped her in the bay. I think I looked up where that dude lived and he was never in the city where I had that night job, I was 100% it was him when I saw that story in the news.

Every-fucking-day.

I don’t get it much on job front but at my kids soccer games and shit other parents are so socially awkward. I’d say 75% are normal dudes I wish I knew better but there is always 1-2 that within 5 minutes start talking about something insanely uncomfortable in front of the entire group and no one knows how to respond.

I can’t figure out if it’s a mild form of asbergers or trying to brag so hard it just comes off shitty. But the moment they walk away the other dads and I all look at one another with the “wtf just happened” face.

Years ago I realized when I get high I become the guy that tells stories that end with one person saying “thats cool”. Luckily I noticed quickly and figured out how not to do that.

Guy we ride with loves talking about getting laid, last one he was like “When I was done I pissed on her” everyone else in the group is married and when no one responded he said it again. I gave him a thumbs up and said thats cool…

Read the room. Don’t be that guy but some people just never see it.

Same.
In my line of work, I strive to put people at ease, because for me to be effective, I need them to be open and honest.
This sometimes brings interesting results in service coordination.
I can link people to many different resources, but one I had to gently inform a person that I could not do, was hire a hooker for her brain injured son.
That is not in the DMH/DD Targeted Case Management manual.

For me, I'm in sales, and it's a natural part of my "social butterfly" psyche profile it seems. People buy things from people they like.

But I've had some customer lunches and dinners which have delved real fast into "You may just wanna think about talking to a counselor" territory. Usually if I count and get up to 6 "that's crazy!"s in an hour conversation there's problems afoot.

I'm not big on interviews for jobs. Most are very casual, walking around the shop or out to eat and such. Once I got into one and wanted out I knew I was not right. Guy asked a question and I said "I shot a man in Reno just to watch him die.". It ended soon after I don't think he had ever heard the song.

There was a timber buyer told me once they made good money by buying timber and when they cut it just getting "a little extra" from each neighbor. I told him that sounded like a good way to get shot. In fact I know of one instance it did happen between two differnt crews after a big timber blowdown. Why tell anyone? Why tell me when I am a landowner? I didn't call the cops or anything but I let my friends know that ran crews keep their eyes open.

My neighbor, who is now in his 70s and dying of cancer, used to date rape women. He'd get them drunk with alcohol plus Sprite that was kept at near freezing. I guess if it's cold enough you can't tell how strong the drink is? It wasn't even drinks to loosen them up. It was drinks to render them unconscious or close enough that it didn't matter. I was just bullshitting with him one afternoon a few years ago and out all this came. I'd seen the

meme before and didn't know it was both actually a thing and that people did this shit.

People have told me they do shady shit pretty often, nothing like rape. Most of it comes down to business shit that if I pulled or the company I was doing contract work pulled sooner or later I'd be out of a job or worse.

My boss straight up volunteered she had been molested by her uncle for years as a kid.

And moving on right back to work so I don't have to process what kind of things make you messed up
