I don’t know how to properly start this thread and searching for one is not happening. Maybe someone smarter than me can do this and put my comments in the right place.

I saw this today, and maybe it’s just me and my age but I was pretty weepy at the end and during the closing credits. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed this but we both needed some tissues

I lived in CA when Reagan was governor and like most dope smoking hippies, I voted for Carter the first time but later after I was out of college and employed, a man who would become my boss convinced me to vote for Reagan the next time. And I voted for him again 4 years later.

Well acted and the story moved along at a good pace. The highlights in the movie seemed to coincide with my memory. Reykjavik, Berlin, SDI, Iran-Contra, the huge crowds along the route of the motorcade for his funeral and Nancy laying her head on his casket.

Fuck, I miss the guy and the country we were. The Iranian hostages were released minutes after he assumed office. Sleepy Joe probably doesn’t remember we have hostages being held today. But I digress. Do yourself a favor. Go see this. It really is a well done movie about a true American hero, that of course, Hollywood had nothing to do with.

Haven't seen this movie but... I was in Simi Valley at the Presidential Library when they unloaded his coffin. I remember everyone was silent, the speeches were heartfelt but boring. I teared up during the Missing Man formation. Watching his wife place the flag on his coffin and tell him she loved him and start crying was rough. A sad but great memory.

Well I was in high school learning what was called then 'Civics' when Ronnie ran the 1st time and I made my mother go register to vote for him (twice) I wasn't old enough to vote until '88. I really need to see this.

Audience rating for such a film is almost meaningless, since its a hagiography. The people interested in seeing this movie will find exactly what they want in it. Critics rating is not that much helpful considering the very nature of the project. Even a brilliantly directed, paced and acted film cannot escape the inherent trappings of a hagiography: total lack of nuance at best, revisionism at worst.

Was ok except for super weird CGI. They fucked up the map of the Unites States of Euroland, of course: divided (west/east) Germany, as it was at the time, but also present time (post-collapse) ex-Czeckoslovakia and ex-Yugoslavia countries.

Yeah. Blatant propaganda and nostalgia for people inside the bubble is loved by people inside the bubble. I am shocked.
