Reminded me of the scenes in Evangelion when the defense forces would fire on the Angels and not accomplish anything

Tail too tentacle-like. 5/10 would not bang.

So is Godzilla taken over by another creature so that's why he's glowing red?

From what I know, it has to have something to do with nuclear exposure. Either this is a continuation from earlier Godzilla movies in which it's actually the original Godzilla's son who basically absorbed a ton of radiation after dadzilla melted/died from exposure, or it's an brand new godzilla-verse and this new Godzilla is all messed up from some unknown cause... which is probably some kind of radiation. (I'm actually sad that I cared enough about this to research it)

This does look sweet though, as someone who watched Godzilla movies for the last 20 years I'm excited to have new American and Japanese versions being released.

That's the spirit of Kublai Khan infused into Godzilla's body and he's going to wrap up what he tried to do in 1281.

my first thoughts on this were... "its "the current year", and still doing nuclear power is baaaaaaad. But then I thought, oh right, Fukushima. I guess Japan might have reason to still be worried about nuclear power.

That looks like a remake of the first movie. Several shots are very similar as is the focus on the organized governmental response to natural catastrophes. The japanese title is Shin Gojira, so New Godzilla. That's a pretty common way to title movies and it can be for sequels, remakes, reboots or spin-offs, so... that does not say much.

This may not need to be under a spoiler tag, but whatever....pretty sure future trailers will spoil all this and more. Take this with a large grain of salt because it was just what I'd read from what leaked earlier in the production cycle:

There are 3 distinct Godzilla "suits" used in this film. Each one depicting different stages of regrowth/regeneration. General plot is this is a return-of-Godzilla type movie.....I *think*, although my memory has faded now, that it may be a direct sequel of the 1954 film, and this Godzilla has been regenerating from the skeleton of the Godzilla killed by the oxygen destroyer. The Godzilla we see in the trailer is either 1st or 2nd suit. I seem to remember the 1st suit being much more grizzly looking, but maybe they decided to tone it down.... It was...gross. I really can't say for sure, early production leaks are always frustratingly vague. The general notion is that he starts out looking damn near Zombie-Godzilla like, but by the end of the movie, Godzilla will have fully regenerated, and won't look grotesque. I expect him to look Boss by the climax of the movie.

Beyond the general synopsis, and the different suits used, I know basically nothing else about the movie.....and as I said, what I do know was based on early production leaks and should be taken with a grain of salt anyway.

Holy crap, way to go Toho! Much higher production values than I'm used to from Toho Godzilla movies......considerably darker tone too. Goddamn. I could love this....I want a Godzilla that wrecks shit again. Godzilla *should* be scary. If something like that really existed, it would be beyond terrifying.

Europe needs a Godzilla.
Troll Hunter.

Anyway, this looks awesome imo. This is coming from a guy who grew up with Godzilla and has seen every movie. He seems like a zombie, unaware and uncaring about what happens around hi. I'm pretty hyped, I just hope there's an American release.
