Apparently vampires are making a resurgence.

That being said this movie isn't based on an existing IP. So it has that going for it and probably the only thing it has going for it.

I really dislike it when director's have to brag about working with somebody as a positive for a movie. I could care less if a director was born with the actor he is directing. I care about how good the movie is. I cannot think of any time when you saw Steven Spielberg get all homie with Harrison Ford as a way to promote a movie.

Lets see what the people say....

Maybe if he did, Solo would still be alive.

Edit* Scratch that. Wrong character, movie and... everything. Just wrong everything. I'm tired! Gawd!

I could have sworn I commented on this movie previously, but I don't see any other threads for it, so maybe I'm tripping.

Anyway, I'll watch this pirated because of Hailee, but hopefully she doesn't end up turning nice vampire or some shit and falling for MBJ.

I didn't know this was ever an option.

I know musicians often fight long and hard to get ownership of their masters, but a movie seems so much more complex.

Or maybe it isn't? I'm thinking in terms of who really do you identify as the creator of a movie since the massive amount of people involved. Versus an album when relatively speaking can have a very small amount of people involved.

The music industry can't keep artists hostage like they used to since a kid making music in his basement with a computer he bought for a few hundred bucks can produce massive hits now.

Breaking free of the Hollywood studio system is more complicated when your production budget is in the tens of millions.

Thought this was pretty fantastic. A modern From Dusk till Dawn, just so well done on so many fronts.

So I have been mixed on Ryan Coogler as a director; sometimes he seems to have an agenda, other times he seems to be more down the line. Regardless of where he stands ideologically or you might stand on him, here he is talking about various film aspect ratios and the decision and factors that drove him to some of the choices he made in making various versions of Sinners. He seems to be a knowledgeable passionate artist, nonetheless. Definitely want to see this somewhere, probably when it hits streaming but might even be worth getting out and going to the cinema.

Super, I was hoping to see reviews start for this. I very much want to see this from trailers but was reserving until more reviews came in. May get me out to a theater yet.

took a lot of teenagers out to see this (or minecraft for the younger ones) today while women cooked easter dinner.

its ok, its a decently made kiddie horror movie. Its nowhere near as good as Dusk Till Dawn or Nosferatu which I'd say is the more artistic/deeper movie by far. The vampire stuff in this movie is paper thin and just really basic stuff you've seen done a million times, like literally any shlocky SyFy vampire movie is deeper in vampire lore than this movie. Twilight has more vampire lore than this movie. There is nothing really scary or super violent, some minor violence but I've seen worse in call of duty.

Haley Steinfeld is barely in the movie and not an important character in the slightest, there is no nudity at all, and its a "we're black ya'll, we're black ya'll, blackity blackity black black black" type of movie. Which I don't care, its a well done movie and no gay or tranny shit, but a lot of KKK/deep south racism/jim crow type stuff that'll piss some of you off.

Music is a HUGE part of this movie which I didn't know going in, if you're one of those "the blues is a cornerstone of American culture" pretentious douchebags you'll love this movie. I don't really care about any of it so it just washed over me like Ryan Gosling explaining jazz in La La Land. There was a big music scene about an hour into the movie I thought was super retarded but I bet a lot of critics thought it was high brow genius art. The first hour of the movie is SUPER slow.

NOT worth a trip out to theaters unless you have to see every vampire movie, its fine at home in 3 months and entirely forgettable. There is a post credits scene that sets up a retarded sequel I guess and another that is just more music flex.

Thats two movies so far this year i've gone out to theaters and sorta regretted - Mickey 17 and this. I'll probably see Thunderbolts and Mission Impossible 8 in theaters, please lord don't let them be just average too.
