Just ordered a transfer for my number to another carrier. It will play nicely with my N5.

Going from Unlimited Text / Unlimited Voice / 3gb H+ data (throttle after) for 25? to Unlimited Text / Unlimited Voice / 3gb 4G (LTE) data (throttle after) for...25?. Without a contract.

For some things, it's damn good to live in France.

Heh, I just changed my Nexus 4's phone plan to unlimited text/voice and 3gb of data for $85/month, and almost feel like it's a good deal. Yet it's double Malkav's plan. Fucking Telus/Rogers/Bell.

For 40? I can get 8Gb data on this carrier. But I'll see if the 3Gb is enough with LTE first.

It's even nicer than that after checking it out.
I get first month free (LTE launch promotion), third month free (internet subscription promotion) and a 50? cash back (switching carriers promotion). Feels good.

I moved all my lines to TMO's post-paid family plan. Currently paying $28.95 per line (5 lines total) for unlimited voice/text/data. Price is including all taxes/fees. Only limit is it is only 500mb's of 4G speed per line. You can upgrade to 2.5gbs of 4G for $10 extra per line, but none of us currently need it as we are near WiFi 90% of the time. You can also add additional data for just a month at a time if you are traveling or something. Plan also falls under the new TMO "data anywhere in the world" program.

If you have 3-5 lines I don't think you can beat that plan price wise. I have mentioned before that the coverage isn't as good as Verizon, but the cheapest I could get my Verizon bill down (while maintaining decent amenities) to was $75 per line. Verizon's coverage was better, not that much better.

How do you deal with things like driving through the sticks and you have no cell phone coverage when you really need it? Even just for map data while driving?

It's been weird, I actually get better TMO coverage in the sticks than I did with VZW. I just drive through more coverage deadspots in areas where there isn't any reason for there to be one. As far as maps, if I'm driving somewhere specific I make sure to have an offline version of the directions queued up before I go somewhere (I also did this when on VZW, redundancy). There are also some navigation apps that work w/o data but they tend to be kind of spendy. Honestly I use my GPS a lot more for getting around cities I'm not familiar with than I ever do driving through the sticks.

Google Maps has had the ability to cache areas that you select for quite some time. You only need GPS for navigation even when you have no cell service.

What province are you and what carrier are you with now? I'm on Rogers and I just snapped up a Nexus 5 today, I'm planning to switch to Wind, AFAIK the big 3 don't even offer unlimited plans at any price.

Yeah, I know that, but let's say you don't think to look up the map until sometime into your trip?

Snagged the 32GB one today after debating it quickly. I would have preferred a bigger battery I guess and probably should have waited out a few more reviews but screw it, the old phone is feeling old.

There must be a lot of orders going through though right now, my CC fraud protection triggered on the purchase hehe.

Stop at a coffee shop or Mc D's and wifi it up?

Ordered mine 32 GB black. Will ship before the 5th of Nov. My first smartphone. Had tablets before and a old Nexus 7 with cell plan and a granny phone that did not even have text. Ahh 21st century here I come!

Any suggestions of a prepay plan? I maybe do 10 hours a month of calls and never sent a text in my life.
