Surprised they didn't do the filming LOTR style and knock out the majority of all three movies in less than a year like Peter Jackson and crew did. Though I guess they'd have a hard time stretching the release dates to two years apart as well as preventing leaks, it's not like LOTR production had anything to hide story wise.

Jackson did that to save money which was important when he was shopping LoTR around trying to get one of the studios to actually make it. It's easy to forget just how much of a gamble that property was seen as being back then. Lucasfilm has no problem bankrolling it's movie projects.
And that was a passion project for Jackson so committing the time it was going to take to see those films through as the director wasn't even a question for him. To get a single director to helm a trilogy that will release even a movie per year you're looking at a good 5 year commitment and you immediately shrink the pool of directors willing to consider working on the franchise.

There's a different vibe between the two but in the broad strokes I'd be inclined to agree with that.
Its the Star Wars equivalent of a horcrux. We find out in Ep 8 that Snoke = Palpatine = couldn't be killed because he bound himself to some bio hexacrypts! Ep 9 is Rey and her cohorts running around trying to find and destroy all the hexacrypts before killing Palpatine once and for all.

I remember prior to FOTR coming out a lot of articles speculating it would be bankruptcy for New Line due to funding that project.

Thankfully "snow" is absent from the landscapes this spoiler listed. Hopefully not going to be too much of a callback/tribute fest to ESB.
Or maybe this one is simply mirroring RotJ, what with deserts and forests. Mountains and oceans is a gimmie considering that's where Rey goes to find Luke.

An interesting article on SWNN that's generating a lot of discussion though that isn't very hard to do right now, given the lack of concrete info on Ep 8 at the moment. It's essentially a combination of sourced rumor and further speculation springboarding off of that, so take it for what it's worth.

It was. I don't remember ever seeing them add in their own visuals in their other SWBLR's before. And that was Mark Hamill doing Han's voice.
