Plot: First there was an opportunity......then there was a betrayal. Twenty years have gone by. Much has changed but just as much remains the same. Mark Renton returns to the only place he can ever call home. They are waiting for him: Spud, Sick Boy and Begbie. Other old friends are waiting too: sorrow, loss, joy, vengeance, hatred, friendship, love, longing, fear, regret, diamorphine, self-destruction and mortal danger, they are all lined up to welcome him, ready to join the dance.

Loved the first one as a Scot, went through a IW phase as a teen where I read everything he wrote, I wonder if this will follow Porno or if they will make something up.

I haven't read the books, but loved the movie. I'm assuming something happens between whatever the first movie is based on and this, because Begbie would have absolutely killed Renton after he ganked all the cash(Minus Spud's portion). Especially with the state of mind Begbie ended the movie in.

Really hope they follow the books. Be a bit shit if it went off point and hell it needs the ending.

Think I read somewhere that they're following the books, at least loosely, but not 100% on that.

Read the first book and loved it. Enjoyed the movie, too, although it wasn't quite as disturbing as the source material. Looking forward to this.

I have mixed feelings about this existing at all, since Trainspotting was such a brilliant but brutal movie. There is hope in the fact that Danny Boyle is directing and it has the same screenwriter.

It *looks* like the original, which is great. I hear it's loosely based on Porno, which was an actual book sequel. If so maybe it'll be fine.

Good on them for still using Underworld in the trailer, I'm sure it will be good but won't be on par with the original. I'm waiting for this to some how kick off a bunch of gen-x move sequels for no reason like Empire Records 2 or something.

Well, Begbie never did heroin, Spud is clearly still on the needle and never got off, Mark seems to have gotten other things in his life to focus on, and Sick Boy had the trauma of losing his child. They're really all about where you'd expect for recovering or still using addicts barring any serious tragedy that sends them back into a spiral.

Trainspotting was on dvd at the time but a movie I watched a ton. Bad Santa is still part of the christmas rotation and has been since it released.

Went and watched this yesterday. No spoilers.... whilst it's nowhere near as good as the original I have to say as a sequel, it does have some fantastic moments.

The updated soundtrack too fits in well with the plot line being 20 years on.

That's kinda my problem too.

It's like Taxi Driver. The point is that Travis probably goes out and does it again, but gets killed next time. Because he's a crazy asshole.
