Another movie that really messes with your head from the days of Se7en & Arlington Road. I loved this one when it came out. Such a great movie. They never released a 4k version. Maybe some day.

The Game is a classic.

At the time it was a way to get some more of Michael Douglas's Wallstreet character, just in a completely different way story wise.

I will say out of most movies they said I wouldn't see the ending this was one of them, sixth sense ect I always thought were kind of obvious.

I watched a lot of movies when this came out, La confidential, think Jerry Maguire. Got stolen out of school all the time to go watch movies with my dad or grandma

You know I caught this movie on TV once and was really confused, but I was only like 14 or 15 at the time. Pretty sure I didn't catch the whole thing. Might have to give it another watch now.

There's mystery as it's happening but you're not going to be confused at the end. Definitely give it a shot.

Excellent movie.

Sadly they don't make genuine thrillers like this anymore

Yeah I'm 99% sure I tuned in like a quarter or halfway through, had no fucking clue what was going on
Its very straight forward if you watch it all the way to the end. Only watching even half of it will leave you going wtf.

90s and early 00s had a lot of great movies. My friends and I used to do the same thing on a Friday night or on the weekends to go catch whatever new movie was coming out as a matinee, then go grab lunch. Yeah, you'd end up watching some stinkers, but the hit to miss ratio was surprisingly positive.

I never go to the theater anymore and it used to be something we did at least once a week if not every other week for years and years because there was at least always something weren't going and checking out.

That's a two year period. You could take the last 15 years combined and you couldn't come up with a list of movies like that.

This is exactly the conversation I've been having a few times lately. I can look down my old DVD / blurays collection ( quite a few dozen ) and can list 90% of them that I saw in the cinema and even which cinema I'd gone to for most of them.

But now I have been so seldom in the last few years, in fact I spent a few hours just the other week trying real hard to remember what the fuck was the last movie that I went to see in the cinema. Took quite a while to remember it was Top Gun Maverick

And the last one I saw was 1917 on IMAX and I was the only person in the theater and I know I said that multiple times and then different movie threads. I just remember it because I was using a walker and had to get the theater attendant to carry my damn popcorn and my drink so I could hobble my way into the theater and pick my handicap seat.
Probably one of the more memorable movie experiences I've ever had just because of the circumstances, but that was the last film I ever saw in the theater.

It's a shame because you could call up people or my wife and I would go and say hey let's go see a film and now there's nothing on the chopping block that's worth your money or your time. If something even looks semi interesting I'd rather wait for it to come at home and watching it in the living room or in my office on my computer.

It's a shame because going to the movie theater or something we always did when I was growing up. My parents always took us to the dollar cinema and we'd go see whatever Goofy movie out in the 80s or the 90s, and all through high school and college you went with your friends on a Friday or Saturday night to go see some film because it was something to do and there were fun movies. Why the hell would you pay the prices nowadays to go see some Hollywood BS that's going to preach to you about the white man keeping you down.

I say that because I just watched the Candyman new movie that came out a few years ago that somebody on here told me was supposed to be pretty good. It wasn't bad but oh my God it was hitting you over the head constantly with black people getting subjugated, and that stuff really took me out of it. There were some decent elements, and whatever retard that was making the score tried to pull off some Philip Glass minimalistic stings, but I'm glad I just watched it for free on a streaming service.

When I was in high school (95-99), I used to go to the movie theater almost every weekend with friends. We saw SO MUCH good and stupid shit during that time. I remember a few not on Arden's list. Happy Gilmore, Liar Liar, Scream, Good Will Hunting, Titanic, As Good As It Gets, The Fifth Element, Donnie Brasco, Boogie Nights, The Game, Devil's Advocate, Men in Black, Sling Blade, Sleepers, Jerry Maguire, The Rock, Jackie Brown, Independence Day, Face/Off, Mission Impossible, Swingers, The People vs. Larry Flint, Chasing Amy... So many memorable movies back then.

1998-1999, I'd add The Mummy.
Amen. We went with a big group in college to see it opening night, and it was just a fun movie. Yeah, a bit cheesy, but it knew that, and despite the CGI being a bit outdated, it's still worth a watch, and probably something you could enjoy with your kids today. I don't really remember there being anything super graphic or even any bad language. Just a fun adventure movie.

The other ones not so much.

I'm down for that show. I wonder how much they will neuter the story to make it work on television? Hopefully it's for netflix or HBO and not broadcast like ABC or something.
