Plot: In the mid-1700s, Danish King Frederik V declared that the wild heath of Jutland should be tamed, cultivated and colonized so that civilization could spread and new taxes be generated for the royal house. However, no one dared to follow the King’s decree. The heath meant certain death – a godforsaken place haunted by ravenous wolves, highwaymen and brutal, unforgiving nature. But in the late summer of 1755, a lone soldier by the name of Ludvig von Kahlen rode into the heath in a stubborn pursuit of a lifelong dream, determined to reach his goal: the heath would either bring him the wealth and honour he had long sought… or get the better of him.

i know a big part of it is that english isn't his primary language, but the dude asking that question sounds SOOOOOOOO... weak. "hollywood has implied rules about diversity, is it okay that you aren't following those rules?"

uh. yes. it's okay.

Saw this a few months back. This movie has too many titles, the original being Bastarden and the "french" one being King's Land. Mikkelsen is of course very good at playing a stiff upper lipped character (a bit reminiscent of his part in Michael Kohlhaas aka Age of Uprising: The Legend of Michael Kohlhaas). The film is a kind of a danish western, but the character is trying to conquer the wild north instead of the wild west. It is very solidly made, the two only drawbacks being that it's a bit too academic and that the antagonist is just plain evil, depriving the story of nuances.
