Back when I was in college my professor recommended a book calledThe Writer's Journey. I can testify that it is an excellent source for those who really want to write a book but don't know where to start. Most of the top books and movies we have follow patterns and this book talks about patterns you can use while you write. I highly recommend it. Give it a look.
