The HBO rendition of ?Westworld? is described as ?a dark odyssey about the dawn of artificial consciousness and the future of sin.?

The drama, based on Michael Crichton's 1973 film and written by Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, stars Anthony Hopkins in his first series-regular role as an inventor who runs an adult amusement park populated by lifelike robots. James Marsden, Evan Rachel Wood, Thandie Newton, Jeffrey Wright and Ed Harris also star.

Very intriguing and a fantastic cast. I remember seeing the original movie when I was a kid, Yul Brunner was the scariest motherfucker to me.

Too bad Michael Crichton couldn't have written this film after having watched the matrix. You can see how it influenced later works of his such as Jurassic park, but I think Crichton knew that the future of entertainment was going to be fully virtual. If he was alive today he would have directed it/written it as a cyber park or only using robots BECAUSE humans "normally" use virtual worlds and this promises "real danger".. I think Michael Crichton would have not wanted what is surely just a Hollywood cash grab, damn the science, damn the cutting edge.

I probably watched the original ten times as a kid-- great movie. It was the original Terminator IMHO. Yul was relentless in the original.

I do think that humans will always have a preference for "real" instead of virtual experiences. Virtual experiences are nice because there is a measure of control, but I think if you could apply that same experience to the "real", then people would probably prefer that.

They had a few real porn stars on GoT aside from Sibel Bagel Eaterli. As that article noted it was the fucking UNION that got all butthurt, not the actual extras themselves, since most those chicks would prolly suck real HBO cock to get on any HBO show.

The explicit consent form itself wouldn't pass standards reviews at a broadcast network as it recites that the performer "may be required to perform genital-to-genital touching, simulate oral sex with hand-to-genital touching, contort to form a table-like shape while being fully nude, pose on all fours while others who are fully nude ride on your back, [and] ride on someone's back while you are both fully nude."
