I'm a huge Dead Cells fan. Its in my top 3 played on Steam. I've done 5 BC runs and all the other stuff. To say I was pretty hyped for this is an understatement. I played the demo this weekend and it's everything I thought it would be. smooth, challenging, great roguelike elements. Combat is very fast pace and dynamic. Music is great (the first biome has a track similar to the under water DK Country track). The animal stuff is meh. However it never felt furrylike to me, just more of a fantastical world.
Enemy design is broad and interesting. Level design seems a bit more linear then dead cells, but I'm still not sure. In Dead Cells you could find little secret rooms and there were interesting ways to navigate a run (which way you went, if you went this way you had guarantee curse + this many stores etc etc). Since we only have 1 biome available in the demo I can't comment too much on this.
Unlocks seem pretty varied. This is where I expect the most work to be done through the games life cycle. Dead cells started with like 50ish weapons/perks/items/costumes and now probably has close to 1000.
Anyway Twin Motion is probably Dev of the year in one of those years they were running Dead Cells. The amount of free content they released is probably only surpassed by No Man's Sky devs. Even if the art direction turns you off (which it did me at first), check out the game if you like rogue likes. This is basically Hades made by Twin Motion.
