I'm a huge Dead Cells fan. Its in my top 3 played on Steam. I've done 5 BC runs and all the other stuff. To say I was pretty hyped for this is an understatement. I played the demo this weekend and it's everything I thought it would be. smooth, challenging, great roguelike elements. Combat is very fast pace and dynamic. Music is great (the first biome has a track similar to the under water DK Country track). The animal stuff is meh. However it never felt furrylike to me, just more of a fantastical world.

Enemy design is broad and interesting. Level design seems a bit more linear then dead cells, but I'm still not sure. In Dead Cells you could find little secret rooms and there were interesting ways to navigate a run (which way you went, if you went this way you had guarantee curse + this many stores etc etc). Since we only have 1 biome available in the demo I can't comment too much on this.

Unlocks seem pretty varied. This is where I expect the most work to be done through the games life cycle. Dead cells started with like 50ish weapons/perks/items/costumes and now probably has close to 1000.

Anyway Twin Motion is probably Dev of the year in one of those years they were running Dead Cells. The amount of free content they released is probably only surpassed by No Man's Sky devs. Even if the art direction turns you off (which it did me at first), check out the game if you like rogue likes. This is basically Hades made by Twin Motion.

EA is out, I of course picked it up and did a run already. Its fucking amazing. Second biome much more challenging and the boss fucked me up. There seems to be alternate ways to go in the biomes that are locked behind upgrades. Also somewhat secret side areas you can miss that give cool shit. The upgrades on the weapons start adding affixes like dead cells and you can mix and match tons of different ailments and stuff. Gifts seem to be what perks were in dead cells. You can have 3 of them and they are somewhat build defining (only seen a few so far so might be overstating but if they act like perks then that would be their role)

The animal shit isn't bad at all, especially in the game graphics. I'm using some cool ass lizard thing that looks bad ass. The home base looks like there will be a decent amount to unlock and explore hopefully.

I'll give more updates as I get further.

I picked this up as well. While I appreciate Dead Cells for what it is, I could never get into it due to the pixelated graphic style. Windblown is more my bag. Beautiful in 4K.

I'm so tired of Rogue-Like games. Give me a damn option to keep a build if I like that playstyle.

If only there were games that weren't roguelikes, I wish it was a thing too but ever since Rogue no one has ever thought to make a different genre sadly.

Game is pretty hard. I'm pretty bad with melee weapons I think, haven't made it to the 3rd biome without range yet. The farthest I made it so far was 4th biome with triple boss, and I had a pretty OP build.

Probably need to slow it down and play more defensively.

I kind of wish you'd get another gift slot, there's always one I wish I could use but only getting 3 so you have to swap.

EDIT: Apparently you do unlock another gift slot. Just gotta keep unlocking shit.

This game seriously has a fuck ton to unlock. Anyone finish a run yet? The second boss is such a cunt. You really have to priortize his little canisters he spawns before he does the laser.
