Almost no chance of that given how fucked the IRS's staffing and funding situation is. I declared a (real) six-figure capital loss from private stock last year with literally no verification and they didn't even blink.

My wife works in health care AI, we're about 10 minutes away from this being a reality. The actual impediments are a) scale and b) the uncertain legality of discrimination based on genetics. Everyone's already got your medical records (allegedly anonymized at the endpoint but definitely not...

Nice outcome, but I'm still not going to put my DNA out there. Plus my grandmother was a genealogist so I've got a pretty...

It's not necessarily a total fraud, but many view it as a waste of time because it doesn't produce predictions that are testable with an attainable level of human technology. There have been some interesting developments in pure mathematics that come out of string theory, though. (This is...

Owing them money isn't a problem if you can manage your own cash flows correctly. I try to owe them as much as possible because I don't believe in free loans to the government. The only issue is if you end up with an underpayment penalty, but even then most of the time you can avoid that by...

My problem is at this point I see straight through games to their mechanics and gameplay loops, and if there's something off it drives me bonkers. I just don't have time in my life anymore to power through broken/boring parts of games even if they are otherwise good. Production values matter...

I think it's an accurate characterization given that the question was framed around energy starting at the back of the PSU. Are we going to say a resistance heater consuming solar power is 30% efficient because of the originating PV cells? It's also a fair number relative to heat pumps, which...

Resistance heating is 100% efficient. You're still using electricity instead of gas so there's an economic penalty out the gate per BTU delivered (unless you've got solar), but efficiency isn't an issue.
