I think you hit the nail on the head for why this game still has drawing power for intelligent people. I get apps from people who devote 15 hours + a week to their characters, and they have to still be taught how to raid, how to perfect their tanking/utility/dps, etc, and barring ego issues...

The only named that really requires a pet tank is Xolok the Blind. I tanked AoW without any difficulty, although i'm fully raid geared.

Your problem is that the AoW AE rampages, rampages, and also does a 40k AE very often. If you're using mercs they're too stupid to go OOR and you just die.
