I don't know where you live but I can't get a repairman to come to my house for that much, never mind actually do anything like procure or install parts. At my last rental the dishwasher pump failed (3 years old) and it was $250 just for the part and more than an entire replacement unit to have...

Yeah. I recently rented 2 single family homes over 10 years. I had to provide my own washer/dryer in the first place, which was fine, and I took them with me. Maaaaybe I'd do the same with a refrigerator, but that gets tricky fast because they're less standardized and not every home has the same...

Physics is basically just applied math, and both have a ton of skills overlap with computing. My wife has a physics BA and MS and currently runs a data science department. No one classifies that as some kind of failure mode of the degrees.

Everyone should work low-end jobs for a couple years before higher education, if only so that they're inspired to get and keep their shit together. College would be a lot better if the students had some actual life experience.

I had the same problem and had to open the lever arm and install the locking pin to access the hole for the top center lag bolt. I ended up installing the brackets shifted 2 inches to the left of center and put the mount arm on the center stud. It offends my OCD but you can't see it behind the...

Yeah. My old TV was just sitting on the ~5 ft mantle and it was at a bad enough angle I'd get a crick in my neck watching a movie. This drops down something like 18'' below the mantle height now. Much more comfortable.

I ended up getting a 65'' Hisense U8 on a Black Friday sale. Couldn't quite bring myself to spring for the OLED. Put it up with a Mantle Mount and I love it already. Only hitch was that I have a metal lath plaster wall and it was a bitch to find the studs. Mount is super sturdy. Four lag bolts...

Obscure / Rare Technology you used.

That's not necessary, the whole value of the technology was that you used the perpendicular pairs of wires passing through each bit node to set/read magnetization induced by current. For the time it was blazing fast. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magnetic-core_memory

How long should that take, and does it involve just skipping everything for several hours? I'm too old with too little time to spend 5-10 hours skipping a game just to get to the "real" game.

I don't mean the moment-to-moment gameplay. It just seems to take for fucking ever to make progress.
