I'm (sadly) almost finished with the Republic Commando book series by Karen Traviss and it's very enjoyable. The first book is what I expected from a series named like that but then it goes into an unexpected direction and gets even better. I highly recommend them.

I can confirm it works, but only if you use all the teleport platforms, back and forth, at least once. I got a prompt screen that said "All teleporters unlocked" or something and from then on you can just enter any teleport and when on the map screen you can select which platform to teleport to.
