I like that the Redskins, Giants and Cowboys could all still win the division and it could very likely come down to the last week of the season. The winner of the NFCWest could very well come down to the 49ers-Seahawks game in week 16 since the 49ers can't handle the Rams for whatever reason. Whoever wins between the Packers and Bears next week will have the upper hand in the North, but even after that game the division will still come down to week 16 or 17. And on top of that you have the Skins, Cowboys, Giants Bucs, Seahawks, Vikings, 49ers, Saints, and Rams all still fighting for the wild card spots depending on who does and doesn't win divisions. The only foregone conclusion is that Atlanta will have the 1 seed, the second bye week isn't even remotely clear yet.

Contrast with the AFC, where all 4 divisions are for all intents and purposes locked up and only 3 teams are fighting for the 2 Wild Card spots; Pitt, Cinci and Indi. The only excitement in the AFC in the last 4 weeks of the season is to see who is going to get the top seeds.

Please don't forget just how fucking shitty of a coach Jason Garrett is please, I'm sitting here trying to think of another game with a different coach that I can pinpoint losing because the head coach was so inept at knowing what to do with little time in the 4th quarter. I honestly think even Dave Campo is better then this tool and Campo was a god awful coach in just general but at least they never lost because he was fucking stupid in the 4th quarter.
rofl the cards game last year, lolz

You take that bac... nevermind. You're right. But he's Jerry's boy so what are you gonna do?

That said, my prediction is that Norv will come in as OC for next year. Even though he could sit out a year since the Chargers would still have to pay him for not coaching 2013, Jerry can be persuasive.
I like what he's doing with the players he's gotten rid of and the last 2-3 draft classes (If anyone seriously thinks Jerry is the one really doing the drafting, you're wrong - he just grabs the phone to make the call when the draft room camera is turned on him), but he's so bad at in game stuff.

At this point i'd rather keep him, because I believe he can learn from his mistakes and get better on late game decisions. More importantly, having a plan with player development seems to be a hard thing to find in the last 15 years with the Cowboys and Garrett has some sort of plan at least.

Honestly, unless Sean Payton is available, there isn't a better alternative.

I'm not so sure about that. Until Jerral gives the GM reigns to a real football/business guy, he won't be able to attract the kind of coaching talent that the Cowboy's need. Sure he can go out and spend, baby, spend, but that's the point: He's buying a name, a personality who is more interested in selling himself (Rex Ryan) than just preparing the x's and o's for Sunday. The Cowboys honestly deserve better, but they've shit the bed so much since Johnson's departure that no real coach is going to come within a clown-pole's length of 'em.

They need Ditka. Or a Parcells who actually gives a shit.

Payton can work with Jerry - Jerry respects him and he's coached there before, he'd give him a lot of control.

But Jerry has already given a lot of control to Garrett and his son Stephen on how the team and draft is run - Jerry just likes to make it appear that he does more. Still, that perception hurts the team and undermines Garrett.

The Patriots are screwed now. The Texans have letterman jackets.

Bro, Garrett undermines Garrett. But beyond that, Jerral undermines the whole organization by turning them from a respectable business operation into a circus sideshow. What football professional, who truly cares about the "integrity" of the game, wants to come out to Jerry-World at this point? The Cowboy's aren't a coach away from being good; they're a whole fucking team away from it sans Romo, Lee and Ware. Again, who wants to come into an organization, have to deal with the Fox cam showing Ole Jerral's upset mug in the owner's box, back to the coach, back to Jerral, back to the coach only to go back to Jerral grabing/trying to shake a dap? To then have to deal with the media about why your team is shit for the next 2+ years while you rebuild and most likely, tarnishing your reputation along the way?

If this was post-Johnson, where Switzer just came into the keys to the kingdom, Jerral would have them lining up, and not just the skanks either.

Coach of the Cowboys is one of the highest profile jobs in Sports, their the 2nd highest grossing sports club in the world. If you could be the person to get that franchise back to winning championships after 15 years of being average, you would be a coaching legend. Jimmy Johnson is still living off it, even though he did a straight up terrible job coaching after leaving Dallas.

There are coaches out there with the ego to think they could be the one - Sean Payton included.

That's the thing. The Cowboys are unfix-able in their current form. A high-profile blunder isn't worth thepossibilityof bringing the Cowboys to the promised land. Yes, in a way, you are right. Itusedto be a prestige job with the benefit of being high-profile, etc. Now, it's just like an episode of American Chopper meets Jersey Shore.

No self-respecting coach would touch that franchise the way it is now. It needs to be nuked from orbit and rebuilt.Thenit might be worth staking your career on.

Also, your posts, while being factual in a stat-wise sense, lack common sense: Yes, the Cowboys are a hugely profitable and visible franchise. Yes they make a lot of money. When was the last time they won a play-off game? When was the last time they were relevant in January/February? Nickleback sells a lot of albums, and is known throughout the world, but norealmusician would ever sully their name for the chance at bigger fame/profits/Avril's titties.

The Cowboys are "America's Team" in name only. They are team stuck on the laurels of past glory and like Uncle Rico, they can't seem to move on. I mean, shit dude, the Patriots have a better stake to "America's Team" than do the Cowboys and they lost their last two Superbowls while Ole Jerral was picking shorts to go with this festive Hawaiian shirts.

Until the Cowboys actuallydosomething, they have been, and will continue to be a circus sideshow which is not conducive for hiring quality coaches.

This alone makes Cowboy's fans worth tolerating. The universally high level of vitriol they have for Garrett is just something beautiful to behold. Pretty much every team but New England has a lot of haters for their coach. And many teams have a coach almost ALL fans hate(Philly, SD). But none of those teams have as big and vocal a fanbase as the Cowboys.

I'm like a football sith, I want that hate flowing.

Hey now, I'm the reasonable Cowboys fan around these parts. You're going to need to find a new schtick cause this one's taken.

Well this brings up another fascinating aspect of Cowboy fandom, one that really came in to stark focus this season. Even the retarded homer Cowboy fans have tempered their stupid opinions as the season has gone on. Previous years we'd still be getting dogpiled by retarded "facts" about how amazing every Cowboy player is at this point. It seems like the last 15 years of stunning mediocrity have finally started taking their toll.

Or maybe it's the near-daily abuse at the hands of the NFL thread that has made them introspective.

I can't really say I'm all to upset from the practice squad dying. He had every much opportunity to tell the dude not to drive, to use his hundreds of thousands of dollars to get a taxi. Fuck both of those assholes.

Cathan, you should go back to your old sig and keep it updated. didn't Vilma get 2 bounties on 1 play? I know it was a joke but it could be interesting to count up injuries inflicted.
Kevin Kolb in the preseason with like the worst OL protecting him in history isn't all that impressive. Vilma knocked out 2 players in 1 play but it was a loss so who really cares. Short of knocking Eli out today I don't think it's sig worthy, and I don't want Eli to get destroyed today. I don't like the Giants but I don't wish that on any QB in the NFL considering how impossible it is to find quality QB talent these days.

From what I saw the Saints are favored in today's game. Really, what's the point of a ban bet if someone's allowed to make a new account 5 minutes later? Call me a pussy if you want but a ban bet should be a perma ban forever if it's to be done.

I'll avatar bet but I assure you Itlan, I will be motherfucking merciless with dicks all over Eli's face/ass if you accept. I don't give a fuck what you put up as an avatar for 1 week if I lose but if you accept I expect you to wear your dick laden avatar with all of your gay pride.

So no to the ban bet but I'm game for an avatar bet.
