Both offenses are bad for the sport. They both strike at the integrity of the game. None of us knows exactly how far the Pats or the Saints did or didn't go to cheat or injure players and we probably never will.

Can you imagine this board if this was the 70s and the Raiders were cheating every way imaginable? Stickem... Fumble into the end zone... ungodly unsportsmanlike penalties... fucking with the field... fucking with the opposing team's locker room... etc etc etc

How is talking about spygate "straight up fucking idiot"?

Don't be delusional. The New England Patriots won games because they cheated. A New England Patriots player admired to receiving all of the opposing teams audibles before the game. That helps win games, and that's just the surface. The post spygate record is quite poignant information. Going 10-0 and now 7-7 shows a much more historically realistic football team.

If we can't talk about spygate, can we talk about Brady kicking Ed Reed?
dumbest person alive

i get the impression that 99% of people are so incredibly ignorant to the goings on the NFL that you all don't understand what "recording signals" even means.

EVERY single team has guys w/ binoculars & pen/paper doing exactly what the patriots did with a video camera. don't be stupid. why do you think coaches cover their mouths when they call plays?

this is the best part ^ where you try to argue the giants beat the patriots twice due to spygate, lol?

and honestly how bad do your assholes hurt that you're even discussing this? ravens vs 49ers is the topic.

First of all, the topic is "2013 NFL Playoffs", don't strong arm me into talking about what you want to talk about. I'm not your wife.

I dont think you understand that the "spygate" situation was more than recording signals. Ted Johnson admitted to receiving opposing teams audibles prior to the game. You also have Ernie Adams doing god knows what in the box upstairs. I just think that you're a Patriot fan, and find it difficult seeing any wrong in them. You simply can not deny they were caught cheating. That is a character flaw, that is often followed by other character flaws.

The Giants didn't beat the Patriots twice due to spygate. The Giants beat the Patriots because they were a better team. I believe previously the New England Patriots were able to beat better teams by using wrongfully obtained information. The Patriots ARE a good team without cheating, but they are no where near as dominant as they were while cheating. The record does not lie. It. Does. Not. Lie. 10-0 with a young quarterback 7-7 after he has had time to develop.

If you want to mention that the Patriots still make it into the post season and the playoffs. You would have the making of a good point, but a point that quickly falls flat on its face. They play in an awful division, and a weak conference. This allows them to often secure a first round bye. Lately they've been playing teams like the Texans, and the Broncos (with Tebow) to advance to the AFC championship. Not exactly the elite teams.

so guys writing down signals with binoculars and pen/paper is the same as video taping them?

Did you happen to catch the 2007 season where Brady threw 50 touchdowns and won 18 consecutive games? Just wondering, you know the greatest offensive season ever played.

or maybe the 2010 season where he won MVP.

or perhaps last year when they made it to the superbowl.

so guys writing down signals with binoculars and pen/paper is the same as video taping them?
Uh, yes? 1 video camera versus 6 guys doing the camera's work. Whats the difference aside from pay roll?

You don't dictate the discussion, you determine your involvement in the discussion or present a viable alternative.

That offense was amazing, but you still play buffalo, miami, and the jets twice a year (didn't close to 18 of those touchdowns come against the dolphins and bills?). It is easy to build an offensive juggernaut when those teams are your competition. This is not enough to convince me that they did not benefit from cheating.

Again, the record says a lot. 10-0 before spygate sanctions 7-7 after. That is 7-7 against quality playoff caliber opponents. Not cake AFC East that you can drop 56 points on.

What part of "2013 NFL Playoffs" means "spouting irrelevant bullshit about non-2012 seasons" to you?

The modern Patriots have folded against strong defenses with even a whiff of a passing game. Belichick should go down as one of the all time greats (as painful as that is for many to admit), but his inability to get competent CBs has cost his team again and again. (A functioning Talib would have helped, but not 16 points worth.)

They scored 13 points, I don't care how good their corners are, if you want to win a playoff game you probably have to put up more than 13 points.
