I know the kid has some good genes and all, but I really doubt a 2-year old was pounding the guy's head into the pavement.

So this was a secret kid and he's playing Sunday. Is there any chance he was involved in this kids life any more than he absolutely had to be? I mean, it's horrible what happened to the child but so far I don't get the impression that he was anything but a random byblow to AP.

No idea what his relationship with the kid was like. He might be heartbroke, or just melancholy with one less child-support check to write.

The more I know about the whole concussion issue the more damning it is to the very nature of the sport. Everybody keys in on the big hits but its becoming really clear that linemen are taking a beating to the brain worse than any boxer. It also highlights that all the shit Goodell has done is totally superficial liability covering bullshit that does absolutely nothing to make players safer from long term brain problems. Essentially you can't change this unless you just stop playing the game. So they might as well leave it alone instead of ruining half of the sport for no reason. I almost struggle with why I support this league when I look at how shady they are, how shitty of people so many of the players are, and how downright barbaric the game itself actually is underneath the surface. Generally I can put it in the back of my mind but every year it gnaws at me a bit more.

Its like Junior Seau said in the documentary though, you knowingly sacrifice your body and long term health to be a football player. Its a choice they've all made. I wonder how many would take the choice back though.

These espn interviews with the Vikings coach about Peterson are painful. "How has this affected his preparation?" Who gives a fuck espn? His two year old was just murdered.

Managed to snag a couple tickets to the 49ers game today. I was hoping to get to see a game at Candlestick this year, being the final season there and all. Hoping they continue to play well!
