Manziel is a disaster. A party hard alcoholic who beat his girl. Whats sad is I actually think he could have been effective if he put on like 17 lbs and really put his head in the playbook. The shit he did against the SEC in his college days was impressive, he was electrifying in the college ranks.

I wonder what happens to Baker Mayfield. For some reason Kiper has Mayfield very highly rated, although he thinks Allen has the highest upside. Rosen stock has fallen, but they are talking 1, 2, 3 at QB now. Barkley at 4. Could happen if GIants trade out of 2. Mayfield at 5. That would be nuts, as Chubb probably goes 6, and Fitzpatrick or Roquon Smith will still probably be there at 9 for the Niners. Cant wait!

I think 1,2,3 will be QB's. Personally I think Mayfield will be a good QB if he doesn't get drafted by the Browns. If he falls far since he does not seem to be getting a lot of love on the radio I listen too I would love the Chargers to pick him up.

imo mayfield is one of the best qb's in the draft...however, his attitude gets him some negatives,...and his size more negatives.. (prototypical qb is ~6'4")

according to his wiki, he is 6-1, 2 inches TALLER than russell wilson, and we know how good wilson is.

You know I'd forgotten that the Browns signed Carlos Hyde. As long as the Giants don't take the position player out of Barkley/Chubb/Fitz at #2 that Cleveland rates the highest, the Browns will get the full win win taking their QB at #1 and whoever they feel is the best position player in the draft at #4. Jets are certainly picking a QB at #3.

Or maybe it was Mike Evans who bailed out Manziel and made him look better? Evans is like a top 5 WR right now and its hard for me to differentiate how much in college was him vs Manziel

So many plays where he just ran around like crazy for a few seconds than just aired it out in Evans general direction.

You can hate on Johnny Football all you want, but I think we can all agree he was pretty special at A&M.

Yea some of his stats might have been helped by Evans but to try to now retroactively water down his collegiate success isn't fair.

I mean go look at the tape. The guy did some amazing shit and was literally balling ALL THE WAY out.

Mayfield reminds me of him a lot. His attitude is going to put a huge target on his back and as soon as that kid sees game action, big black angry defensive linemen and or linebackers are going to try and give him the Iridium welcome to the NFL package.

Mel Kiper is bad at his job and you should not take his opinion on anything. He literally staked his career on Jimmy Clausen.

Eight years ago, Mel Kiper said he’d retire in 2018 if Jimmy Clausen wasn’t a successful NFL QB – well, here we are…

Kiper is an idiot but every guy in that business is wrong at some point. Todd McShay is even worse.

Clausen is still a backup somewhere though, no? He is not good and never has been, and always thought he was over-hyped coming out of highschool and college. But its hard to predict which high profile QB's will have great careers. Look at Andrew the Giant. He looked like an absolute stud when he went 1 overall, The colts looking like they just hit the lottery after moving on from Manning. He was a young, tall, strong armed QB who was accurate and very intelligent. Basically a cant miss prospect at QB, as sure fire bet as you can get coming out of college, kind of like the guy he replaced.

Except now with his shoulder and the shitshow that is the Colts, what is going to be said about Luck? He is most definetely not a bust, but what happens if he never is the same? What happens if he is just a mid level guy when he comes back and never wins another playoff game? He will then have to be considered a faliure, he still has time, but you NEVER know with QB's.

One talking head and/or scout is saying Darnold is the most polished guy, and the most sure fie bet to be a solid NFL starting QB. Another says Josh Allen could be the next Ben Roethlisberger and should go #1. Some have Baker Mayfield as the most talented QB of all of them, and says he will go on to have the best career. SO who the fuck knows, and thats with me not even mentioning Rosen. They could all be good, or all be trash, or a mix of both. There is no way to truly know what your getting, you just have to go with your gut feeling and do your homework on the guy you think is going to make a difference and pull the trigger.

All I know is that the Browns will make the wrong decision. Whether they go with Rosen, or Allen, or they pick Mayfield or some dumb shit, they will end up being bad just because its the Browns.

edit: I think Darnold will be a star. I have a feeling he will be a decent QB, maybe a Matt Ryan type guy (they are almost the same exact size, Ryan is a littler bigger) and he kind of reminds me of him but more athletic. If the Browns pick him I think he can perhaps transcend their stink and be serviceable.

I actually feel bad for Luck. Dude looked like he had GOAT potential. He was fucking awesome to watch. And the Colts ruined him by playing him with the injured shoulder.

YOU all see the report on what edelman did? well his assistant did it but he is getting the credit since he got the ball rolling once he learned about it.

apparently a kid posted that he was going to shoot up his school on edelman's instagram account, some one -not edelman- saw the comment, and DM'd edelman about it,
he contacted his personal assistant and she went thru the comments, found the post, called boston police, they came, they saw the post, made some calls for some warrents. found the kid's city and ip address-contacted that isp, got the account and address, boston police called the port heron MI police, they immediately went to the address, arrested a 14yr old who is now in juvie facing potentially 4yrs in jail for a felony false terrorist threat (they also found 2 rifles in the house- owned by the kids mother)..

That story has only been on the front page of like every sports outlet. So yeah, I bet we've all seen it.

true true, but it was not mentioned here :)

i have no idea what the Patriots are going to do, but with Cooks Gone(last year of rookie contract and he was going to want a PAYDAY-and the patriots were not going to pay- get DP for him now)

they have 2 first and 2 second round picks, they can -hopefully upgrade at DL OL and LB in the draft for those picks, MAYBE take a QB in the 2nd or 3rd round.

Bill Belichick is the best GM in the league.

He basically rented Cooks for a year for what, 2 million dollars and a 6th round pick? Im pretty sure he got back his draft capital back plus some more, and basically just paid one of the best young wideouts in the game 2 million to play for them a season and sadly he got hurt in the Super Bowl and the Patriots got ploughed by an incredible, once every decade type roster that comes together at the right time, with the right pieces in place, in the right circumstances to do something special, and defeat a team they weren't supposed to beat. Brady played VERY well in that Super Bowl, WITHOUT Cooks, and both teams combined to produce the most offensive yards in the almost 100 years of american football records and historical data. (I'm sorry but its like the 2012 Ravens that caught fire after making a run to sneak into the playoffs, Flacco turns into Montana lite for a few games and gets some luck, a little bit of good fortune, some deer antler spray and Keapernick and Greg Roman combining to fail to gain 4 yards in 4 tries and found themselves Super Bowl champions. Eagles were good all year but they lost Wentz, no one thought they were going to be able to win it all with Foles.)

So I would say the Patriots did the right thing with trading Cooks, avoiding having to pay him 17 million a year, and just moving on understanding the value they already reaped from the initial trade. No one seen Cooks going to the pats, and no one seen him leaving so fast either. Belichick is just fucking too slick.

FTFY. I personally think they should move to #2 and draft Mason Rudolph.

Sounds like the movie Draft Day. Move up to #2 overall when you could just pick him with one of their normal picks.

Mayfield will never be a good Qb in the league. He doesn’t have the talent or attitude. He is a product of the OU system.
