I still don't understand why they call it overtime and not sudden death.
Definately a blown non-call and magnified by the timeing, but isn't the general consensus here that the Rams had more calls go against them throughout the game?

Isn't that what happened? There we 11:45 left in OT. Even if both sides had a posession it should just be a full 15m of playtime.

Safety also just ends it.If a team scores a touchdown on the first possession the game ends. If they score a FG or there is a change of possession via TO or punt, then the next score wins regardless of type.
While that's what happened, had the Saints scored, the Rams would have got the chance to right after that. Thus why it's not sudden death.
The problem was the coin toss often decided winner. You drove it 40 yards and kicked on first down and won.But if the Saints then get a stop/turnover they insta win. It just seems like such a large change in the structure of how a game is played to switch to alternate win rules like that.
