I kinda agree. BUT it is an NFL topic. Long as the thread doesn't pull the politic thread regulars over here for post after post after post.
That being said. Did not know there was a black national anthem.
I guess my black card...

I rarely see the anthem before the game so missing another version easy enough. It's during the game and not talking about the game as it happens to focus on external political crap is what will bother me

It's not about who's watching this new charade or isn't watching it. It's the fact that these fucking assholes think it's necessary to continue to divide the nation by pandering to the loud and destructive minority. A "black anthem", whatever the fuck that bullshit is, only further separates people, instead of bringing us together. It's just more damage.
And, I miss the game. Today, its all drama and politics, which we all need much less of.
Sports are one thing I have to watch live. I have no idea why, but I can't do DVR sports.Only if that's what you want to pay attention to. I DVR the games and never see the national anthem, the commercials, or much of anything else besides the game. It's much better that way and only takes half as long to watch the game.
Why are sports the one piece of entertainment where we have to even play national anthems, salute the troops, etc etc. I get it for the Olympics because that’s an international get together kind of thing, but TV, movies, video games, etc don’t have this default preamble before the performance that triggers half the people watching.
Just stick to the drama, punditry, hype up, etc of the performance before the game and take away all the other stuff that doesn’t actually accentuate the experience itself. At this point it would be the better business move for the NFL
yeah but patriotism is just a dog whistle for white supremacy. It's a live nationally televised event maybe? Since it is, this is the few chances to show or be part of patriotism?

There are downsides. Sometimes people will spoil the games for you. I have to stay off of facebook and make sure I don't turn on the radio etc. on Sundays. I have also missed a few games due to DVR malfunctions.Sports are one thing I have to watch live. I have no idea why, but I can't do DVR sports.
Theres plenty of other live televised events where we don't do this. Concerts, American Idol and shows of that ilk, etc. I don't see why its ingrained in our culture that we should do all this preamble to watch people entertain us.It's a live nationally televised event maybe? Since it is, this is the few chances to show or be part of patriotism?
I'm mostly indifferent as well, but I'm pretty sensitive to religion, politics, etc bleeding into areas that everyone gets subjected to where some folks may not want it, or even strongly disagree with. Not everyone playing the game, or even watching the game is American, and for those that are, a good number of them want to show/be a part of patriotism in their own way.Just to cut it off, as for myself...No hate, just indifference toward the whole patriotisms thing. If you told me that China was invading? I'd probably get patriotic real damn fast. Otherwise don't want it in my sports or life otherwise. The same way I don't give a fuck about religion or a bunch of other BS in my sphere of influence. If I am at a live event I stand according when the anthem is sung. The same way I call any senior mam or sir. Nothing wrong with showing some respect.
Just live your best life. Try and overcome the hardships. Help those that want to help themselves. Try and do good. Aaaaand I'm rambling.
