Penalties need to become auto-review under 2 mins. Otherwise you get an overcall like this, or a no call like what happened to the saints?(I think) a few years back.
There's zero chance a ref or NFL HQ review would have overturned this. You have to change the underlying rule if you don't want that.

The reason it even exists is to prevent injury (I mean, look how gingerly Ossai was in getting up), so that's a big ask from the PR and liability minded NFL.

That unnecessary roughness call was totally correct and consistent with how it's always called. There was even one just like it in the NFC game. The fact that it impacted the game in a big way is something you should criticize the player who did it for, not the refs or the rules. It wasn't a judgement call or a ticky tack penalty even though those exist. That was completely clear and will get called almost every time and a review would have verified it. Stupid fucking play but that's on the player.

Kellen Moore is the new OC for the Chargers, per Rapoport.

Honestly, really interested to see how he does with a QB that has enough arm talent to "make all the throws". It will be VERY telling for the Cowboys organization.

As for the Chargers? Not sure how I'd feel lol.

Official now.

The people that don’t know the rules bitch about the unnecessary roughness and the intentional grounding calls.

The people that know the rules bitch about the holding and block in the back calls that weren’t made.

Retards call it fixed, which appears to be 90+% of social media

There were a lot of questionable calls, the last one was not.

This would be awesome if the 49ers could snatch Fangio, assuming Ryans is getting that HC job in Houston. (or elsewhere)

NBA isn't anywhere remotely close to being as bad as the NFL.

Of course the homer defends it.

Shit was rigged to make sure they got their first ever joggerbowl.

Well played, saw this on the ESPN front page. Glad blacks almost have enough player representation proportionate to their population in the United States.

We're a little spoiled in that
There were some shit calls in that game but it really went both ways a couple times. Regardless, if you think the game comes down to a couple penalties you didn't do enough to win - which was the case for the Bengals tonight. I really thought we had it. The way we responded after getting down early I really felt good. We gave Mahomes 40 seconds and that was all he needed.

Fucking sucks. Backup OL didn't hold up early in the game. They recovered admirably but it wasn't enough.

I'm devastated. Really thought this was gonna be the first Bengals SB.

Solid take. Does suck to lose that close a game. But I feel like we might be watching a lot of Chiefs/Bengals match ups over the next 5+ years as long as Mahomes and Burrow are around/healthy.

Out for 6 months. Sounds like Lance has his chance to win the job back in training camp.

For the record, I concede that late hit on Mahomes was the kind of weak but technically legit penalty they've been calling all season, but they also ignored a holding penalty on the play that should have made them offset. And it wasn't just the weak 'holding happens on every play' kind of holding that Bengals homers found desperately scrutinizing the play afterwards for something to whine about, it was a super obvious center stage hold by Orlando Brown because Trey Hendrickson had him beat and made a huge difference on how the play unfolded.

There are way too many retards wearing stripes for there to be any serious rigging going on without one of those morons running their mouth to the wrong person. It's surreal that aside from the occasional player popping off with fairly mild criticism, everyone just seems fine maintaining the status quo of the NFL having the worst officiating in professional sports despite it being devastating to the product.

I kept apprised throughout the season with weekly youtube summaries and the occasional article but I did not watch a single second of an actual game (or Redzone, which is my default as a zero-teamer). It wasn't over all the racism year after year from the league, it was over the absolutely terrible officiating. And now two of the most important games of the year have completely vindicated my decision.
