This isn't about Amalur and 38S. This is about his crazy one-way "relationship" with Schilling. The game itself hasn't even been discussed in months.

Didn't he claim one time to have played for the Vikings, as a counterpoint to Schilling's baseball career?

Ut's just over-zealous. Let him blow off his steam at some rich dude who did some shitty stuff that he needs to be held accountable/liable for. He's not really saying anything wrong and I don't get why anyone would try to be an apologist for Schilling. The guy was pretty clearly outed as a scumbag when the news broke about how 38s completely fucked over their employees with how they handed their housing and lied to them about it, not to mention all the other stuff. Hopefully these proceedings can pin *something* on the guy.

This thread is in the gaming section because it's about a (former) gaming company, jooka. This industry has some serious problems and wanting to sweep a dirty part of it under the rug to the rickshaw is dumb.

The Politics thread is a few forums down, this is the Gaming section. If you can't understand why this hits closer to home than what the banks are doing... When the CEO of Goldman Sachs comes to this site personally and spends a year+ shilling his business, trying to schmooze his way into making us believe that he's "just like us", we can revisit your complaints. Until then it just comes across as a guy whining because another guy is whining.

I think it's safe to say this thread became about ANYTHING and no particular subject a long time ago. I must admit ever since UT came back he has talked a bit of sense. I used to think the dude was crazy but he has been right about a fair few things. Forums need guys like UT he's aggressive stances on topics create discussions/arguments. Kind of like forum's need hot guys like me.

What I can't understand is that this thread has gone WAYYYY off-topic a million times before and yet it hasn't been Richshawed but when UT want's to have a rant about the man who used to own the company which first started this thread you call for it to be rickshawed? Not only that you simply contradict yourself because this company is finished and so is the game therefore by your logic we should have closed the thread there and then. You also claim he is become obsessive about focusing on an owner of a failed video company and yet your focusing your attention on him.

I'm not really sure why you think your posts are more important then his, at least his refer to someone that actually has to do with the legal proceedings that was being discussed.

I think it's time a mod put jooka in rickshaw for a while. 1) Mod sass. 2) Obvious trolling.

I would take this time to remind some folks about how this guy destroyed employees credit, welcomed them with a second mortgage on their homes they thought already sold, paid back his own credit line with state funds, and about 27 other things which is why there is a lawsuit existing in the first place, but I know a select few are just trying to "rustle my jimmies".

With that said, lets keep this thread active so we can see what happens to this schmuck. It would be nice to see someone being held accountable for once.

I did. I can only imagine the blue balls of working on something for 5-6 years only to have it go under within a year (or two?) of shipping.

I've been told that in a lot of big studios in the game industry the quality of the games you shipped are largely irrelevant compared to thenumberof games you've shipped. I don't have first hand experience with applying to a studio so I can't say for certain, but if that's true then it might partially explain that shout out.

I think a lot of it has to do that many of the people who do grunt work on video game titles have a passion for games, which means often times they might take a shittier job environment to work on a game as opposed to sitting in an office doing something they deem boring but with better job security, pay, benefits etc. The suits just know this and take advantage of it. Its part of the business model, when you have a "job" that a lot of people see as ideal their idealism can cloud their justification of many practices. At the end of the day one cares about a good product, the other cares about a good bottom line, that disconnect allows much of the "abuse" to go on in game development. That's part of why the 38s people worked without pay for those 3 weeks when they were in the dark of the stark reality of the companies situation.
